AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #800 is a giant blockbuster comic that celebrates everything about the webslinger. Though a bit clunky at times, this landmark issue is a fun ride.

All in one comic, you have a horror story, a tragedy, and a superhero story with action, villains, and punching. Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 is a great read, and it's just making fans crave Ahmed's Spider-Man book even more.

Batman/TMNT starts off better than expected, although not without its hiccups. The biggest draw is its intrigue, which will have readers waiting for the next issue, looking for answers. The writing and art create a solid balance of grit and wit, making this book everything you'd want in a Batman/TMNT team-up.

AGE OF DOOM takes everything that was great about the first BLACK HAMMER series and turns it up to eleven. The story gets even weirder, more emotional, and more interesting than fans are probably expecting.

If you thought you were going to get a filler issue, a little breathing time before "The Book of Revelations" starts, think again. Bloodshot Salvation #9 is a side story, but it's no less vital to the series overall. It adds depth to Bloodhound and the Bloodshot mythology as a whole, and it'll punch you in the gut like only this creative team can.

Bloodshot Salvation only has two issues left, and that will end Lemire's seminal run on the character. Issue #10 is not a bad jumping on point if you still want to get on this train before it leaves for good.

This has been a saga full of action and drama, of gore and sadness, and of hope. It was a wild ride, and one well worth taking.

CEMETERY BEACH is an instant hit. It's witty, fast-paced, interesting, and just flat-out fun. It sets up about a thousand questions, so there's no doubt you'll be clamoring for issue 2.

DEAD END KIDS #2, a story aptly named "Holes", is an emotional reminder of the scars and trauma that shape us and make us human.

DEVIL WITHIN #1is a must-read for horror fans.

If you're the kind of person who binge watched The Haunting of Hill House and craved more, you need to be reading Devil Within. It's got all the emotional complexity and spooky ghosts you need.

Ether has a little bit of something for everyone. It's funny, it's emotional, and " most important " it's entertaining.

GOING TO THE CHAPEL reads a lot like a Tarantino story, with its unique and eccentric characters and neo-western setting. Through all the crime and craziness, though, this is a comic with lots of heart.

HER INFERNAL DESCENT is an interesting, original concept, and though this first issue can be a bit slow to get through, the series shows a lot of promise.

ICE CREAM MAN #1 is a trippy, twisted, and surreal ride into suburban horror, and it's just damn fun to read.

INFINITY WARS #3 is confusing and as only the Infinity Stones can be, but that confusion also creates interest to read future issues and figure out what the hell is going on. You definitely have to have patience with this series.

KLAUS AND THE CRYING SNOWMAN is a pretty light, basic story, but its premise is gold and its message beautiful. Dan Mora's art is incredible as always; he's the reason this mind-bending, bad-ass Santa Claus story is worth your $7.99.

Fans of the Laphams and Stray Bullets are already going to check out Lodger. But if you're unfamiliar with their work, and especially if you're a fan of crime stories, use this as the perfect entryway into their dark, twisted, surreal world.

Another practically perfect issue of MISTER MIRACLE, sure to make your heart beat faster and your forehead sweat. This comic gives me such anxiety month after month, and I can't stop reading it.

Mister Miracle is the #1 must-buy comic right now, of any genre, and any publisher. I can't wait for this series to end, so that I can re-read it in its entirety and experience the anxiety all over again.

Mister Miracle, as always, does an exquisite job of taking the most atrocious sights and making them seem mundane. Only three issues left to go now, and while it's going to be awesome seeing how this story wraps up, it's a shame that it ever has to end.

Scott considers making a terrible personal sacrifice for the greater good. It's insane when you actually think about it, but to Scott it sort of makes sense. King and Gerads unpack this struggle in simple but powerful ways and show how our personal demons mess with our thought process.

Suffice it to say, Mitch is amazing at what he does, and he earned every bit of the Eisner he won. The raw emotion and power he put into this issue is palpable. He'll make you laugh, make you cry, and make you scream expletives for various reasons.

MISTER MIRACLE #12 sticks the landing.

New Mutants: Deal Souls #6 is an insane book full of spoilers on every page, so please forgive the vague review. Just make sure to pick it up and read it ASAP before the internet ruins it for you.

THE QUANTUM AGE is definitely the most "traditional superhero comic" of the BLACK HAMMER series so far, but it still has the heart and interesting characters that you've come to love from this world.

The bottom line is that the premiere issue of Reborn is great; it's sure to be on many "Best of the Year" lists come December. This is a story that literally grabs hold of you on page one and doesn't let go (which sounds cliched, but it's true). It has heart, action, intrigue, and everything else you could possibly want from a sci-fi/fantasy book. Reborn is already being rushed back to print, so be sure to run to your LCS to get a copy before they sell out!

Spencer & Locke 2 is the Dark Knight, the Empire Strikes Back, or the Toy Story 2 of comic books, whichever you prefer. Sequels aren't easy to pull off, but these guys made it look easy.

QUI-GON JINN #1 is a great, albeit simple, little one-and-done Star Wars story that's perfect for fans of the prequel era.

The juxtaposition of a dark tone with humor may not be something one would expect in a story about Darth Vader, but that may be why this annual works so well. Even more important, it stays true to its roots. Many fans worry that these Expanded Universe stories will stray from Star Wars' core values, but those fears can be cast aside as long as Kieron Gillen is writing Darth Vader. He understands this world and how to tell stories in it. This book is absolutely worth its $4.99, so pick it up and read it while waiting in line to see The Force Awakens.

This is an outstanding start to a miniseries that I've been waiting for since it was announced. It manages to play on a big stage while feeling deeply personal, due to its outstanding creative team. Yes, these are characters that you've seen before, but in a totally new light and under new circumstances. This is the prequel story fans have been waiting for.

THE TERRIFICS #1 is an exciting, fun read that's perfect for adventure fans of all ages.

'Ultimate End' has been hard to get through. It has felt cluttered and shallow, and the continuity is infuriatingly off from the main story it's tied in to. It's saved by two things: Mark Bagley's Spider-Men art, and the hope for a bright future in Miles Morales. It's not the ending that the Ultimate Universe may have deserved, but it will do.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN is giving fans some of what they wanted, and even more that they didn't even know they wanted. If you're a Spider-Man fan, you need to call your local comic shop and have them add this to your pull-list, because you're going to want to see where this goes next. As familiar as this world feels, something tells me we have more than a few surprises coming our way.

Just like the original run did over 20 years ago, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN breathes fresh air into one of the world's most recognizable characters while covering readers with a blanket of familiar comfort at the same time.

Ultimate Spider-Man has genuinely become my favorite monthly title that Marvel is currently putting out. I still have a million questions about this new universe, and about the ramifications of Peter not being bit by that spider as a teenager (what happened to Gwen??), but I'm not even sure I need the answers. I'm just happy to be along for this ride.
