Batman (2016) #2

Jul 7, 2016

Despite the issue being a little on the quiet side in terms of business, I did like what the book had to over in terms of the now and the future. Batman’s cool as ever, and I am digging the pseudo-mentor figure from Batman with the twins. I think King’s run will evolve into something special, with a little more time.

Detective Comics (2016) #934

Jun 8, 2016

In the end, I think this book accomplished its goal of setting up something fun and entertaining. We know the story is going to keep building up to something greater, given the threat present at the end of the book, and given the characters who encompass Batman’s crime-fighting posse. If this arc keeps its momentum up, this will be a book I want to keep coming back to.

Green Lanterns #2

Jul 7, 2016

While not perfect, this was a strong issue that builds up towards the future just as much as the last issue. I am still eagerly waiting issue #3 just to see how the rest of the plot threads get built up later in this story arc.

Green Lanterns #3

Jul 21, 2016

While I don't think this issue is as solid as the last two issues, the book still marches on a with positive stride. The characters still work, and this could be the beginning of a great bond between the protagonists, if they get their stuff together. Given the last page reveal, it's going to be fun to see how that comes to be.

Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1953: Beyond The Fences #1

Dec 31, 1969

I'll be honest, given the nature of a horror book, it's hard to talk about the matter without giving juicy details away. Just take my word for it this is an exciting book to start looking into. Hellboy has always seemingly had this consistent quality, and it shines here.

Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #1

Feb 16, 2016

Either way, this was a book I was really excited for, and I am happy to say I was not let down. This is a tightly knit street level book, that leaves me begging for more.

Scarlet Witch #1

Dec 14, 2015

Despite my relatively minor gripes, I found that this debut issue of Scarlet Witch's All-New, All-Different series was a delectable, if short lived taste of what is to come in the future. There wasn't much character building in the issue, but given Wanda's history, I have hopes her character will be fleshed out in future installments. It's also worth noting the biblical quote that opens the book, and the ominousness it may hold for our heroine. At the very least, I am excited for the dastardly things that may come in the future.

TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything #2

Jun 7, 2016

I found this book to be highly lacking; it all comes back to the characters not having much to do, and the art not having much to show off. Not much happens, but the last page still leaves me curious as to how the series will continue, but there is still a lot to be desired.

TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything #3

Jun 14, 2016

Bebop and Rocksteady themselves are still getting into the process of destroying everything, so at least the series is gaining some momentum, thank goodness. I am almost glad I stuck around. Hopefully the series gets even better in the coming issues.

TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything #5

Jun 28, 2016

Honestly, I am disappointed this didn't grab me as much as it did. There are so many moving parts, where I am not really sure where I'd begin to make the series better as a whole. Even after the 3rd issue picked up the pace a little bit, it's just a shame it didn't last until the very end. Maybe it was too late anyway.
