Action Comics (2016) #1063

Mar 12, 2024

This issue is an incredibly fun exploration of the complexity of Superman with an even more fun team-up. It has its flaws with pacing, but worth a read to finish the I, Bizarro storyline and to see the mental fears Superman faces. The art of this issue is also beautiful and captures Superman and the Joker at their best. Superman may be an alien, but he has fears and self-doubts just like the rest of us.

Cable (2024) #2

Feb 28, 2024

This mini-series is sticking to the heart of an X-Men story with action appropriate for a Cable comic. Cable #2 has something for everyone - it is full of action, develops the relationship between Cable and Kid Cable, and has stunning art. I was originally worried that this mini-series would have an issue with making the stakes and villains feel important in a self-contained story during the Fall of X event, but Niciezas storytelling talent dispels that concern. This mini-series is a master class in writing Cable and a must-read for fans who love the Summers family.

Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace (2024) #1

Mar 6, 2024

Ms. Marvel Mutant Menace #1 is an unbelievably fun comic with a lot of heart at the center of it. Kamala and her community grapple with the reveal that Ms. Marvel is a mutant and a member of the X-Men in a way that feels like an homage to Chris Claremonts early X-Men run. This comic breathes excitement and life into the Fall of X event!

Superman (2023): House of Brainiac Special #1

Apr 30, 2024

This special is fun if you want more insight into Brainiacs story and plans, but overall, it is a filler issue. The biggest crime of this issue is theres no Superman. If you really care about the House of Brainiac storyline and background Superman characters, this issue is for you. The issue falls right in the middle of not being terrible, but not being a big deal if you decide to skip it.
