Aliens/Vampirella #6

Feb 11, 2016

Overall this simple tale of Vampire vs Alien, Alien vs Human and Vampire, Vampire vs Human, Human vs Human and Vampire, Human and Vampire and Vampire vs Alien has been an enjoyable experience that has just played out pretty much like any other vs Alien book that came before it. If you are new to this long running franchise, Aliens / Vampirella #6 and the series as a whole is worth a look.

And Then Emily Was Gone #0

Apr 29, 2015

It goes without saying this free comic is certainly not one for the kids and is a strong reminder as to why comics can be so good, so when grabbing the new Rocket Racoon or My Little Pony for the kids make sure to pick up a copy of And Then Emily Was Gone #0 for yourself.

Army of Darkness Vol. 4 #2

Jan 7, 2015

With a reboot of a series, especially one as popular as the Army of Darkness it gives a new generation of fans and creative teams a chance to try out new things at the same time as keeping faithful to the original and maybe even borrowing from earlier stories but it really does feel that in Army of Darkness Volume 4 #2 the series is out of ideas; personally I cannot wait for the TV series to kick off as at least then it will give the comics some new material to play with.

Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective Agency: A Spoon Too Short #1

Feb 26, 2016

Not having read the original Dirk Gently novels it is hard for me to say if the writer of this new series Arvind Ethan David has captured the essence of the lead man and for a first issue, the characters foibles and personality can get annoying even in 20 or so pages, his shtick getting tiresome quickly. It is far too early for me to be overly judgemental on this first issue of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency: A Spoon Too Short, especially with no experience with the character, as a plus though the artwork is of an exceptional quality that really suits the offbeat nature of the subject, I just hope that over the coming issues I begin to enjoy it more as the mystery of the missing voices itself is one that is lending to an interesting story.

Grumpy Cat and Pokey #1

Feb 18, 2016

To me there is only one grumpy cat, Garfield, but to be honestly he is getting a little dated so this new kitten on the block is refreshing and with quality content as good as this, she will hopefully be around for some time.

Justice Inc.: The Avenger #1

Jun 4, 2015

The action and dialogue are in perfect keeping with the serial's that originally spawned these heroes, with slightly hammy character interaction and an over tendency to explain what they are doing, this is pure pulp action and adventure for a modern audience.

Sep 24, 2014

With laughable similarities to Star Wars, I really feel this is not the greatest way to cash in on the steampunk look and feel, however when broken down there is actually nothing wrong with the story as I am enjoying it and it is exciting plus the artwork and colouring for the majority is great; its just to really enjoy Steampunk: Battlestar Galactica 1880 #2 you need to imagine Star Wars never existed.

The Dresden Files: Wild Card #3

Jun 19, 2016

As with the previous titles, the art and story is spot on, Dresden's home at Dynamite really fitting well with a confident art team of Carlos Gomez, Anthony Fowler Jr and Mohan constantly knocking out high-quality panels. Not having read the novels it is hard for me to say if these tales are in keeping with what came before but as a comic reader, I am a fan and this is one of the few monthly titles I look forward to reading, highly recommended, especially after leaving this issue of Jim Butchers The Dresden Files: Wild Card on such a cliff hanger.
