Animal Man (2011) #9

May 7, 2012

The dialogue and story in general remain, as always, phenomenal. Nothing glaringly out of place there. Steve Pugh's artwork is great, filling in nicely for series regular Travel Foreman. At times the panel arrangement and action flow are a little less fluid then normal, Pugh breathes life into the words like he's been at it from the start.

Who knows. Maybe Spencer has something planned for our anti-hero. If he does, I can't wait to read it because so far I don't buy it. The rehabilitation part, I WILL buy the actual book. The question is, will you?

Ghost #0

If this series is a reboot based on Dark Horses previous Ghost-ly offering, the end of this book is just the beginning of [tiny SPOILER ALERT] a search for the truth. Im not terribly impressed yet, but Im slowly digging the story. I can wait to be blown away, Ill let you know when I review #1.

Super Dinosaur #15

The story thus far is wearing thin. In the beginning it was cool to have a dinosaur friend equipped with robot technology come to the rescue and trounce the bad guy, but it seems as though this is all the series has been since the introduction of SD's character.

Sword of Sorcery #0

I hate to admit it, but had I not been a fan of Amethyst prior to reading this reboot, I would not have picked up this issue based on the cover. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with Josh Middletons anime-esque facial rendition of the character, the interior art is almost hidden by the representation Im faced with at first glance. Im the kind of reader that buys books based on artists, and had I not taken a second look and noticed Loprestis credit, I would have missed this *ehem* gem entirely.
