The only downside to this issue is the uncertainty of when the next installment will arrive. In every other way, the That Was Then special feels like an obvious reminder of what's missing in too many modern comics heart and a larger sense of purpose.

Cyberzerker is a compelling, sometimes hilarious anti-hero and his devotion to the blade is unwavering even after he discovers its dark origin and connection to an evil god. I imagined this as a perfect show for the Adult Swim lineup and I anticipate following Cyberzerker wherever he goes. Recommended for fans of Adult Swim and fantasy.

Aaron also builds on the mystery of the original Avengers team as they confront the same threat that returns to face the current Avengers. Marvel's latest tweaking to its universe might warrant a wait and see approach, but Avengers #1 assures this title is definitely one worth grabbing right away.

This was a very fun crossover and for fans of either Batman 66 or the Legion, it's the kind of blast that's truly timeless.

DC needs more titles like this, and I'm already hyped for next month's installment.

Batman Superman World's Finest is pure fun. It's a fun ride from start to finish and the only knock is it's way too quick a read. I'd sign up yesterday for a Waid/Mora vintage style Justice League book. For now, it's fine to sit back and enjoy one of the best titles DC is putting out each month.

This title remains a fun ride and the wide-open approach to including more DC characters has kept each issue feeling fresh. Keep this on your short-list of can't miss DC titles.

If more creative teams were as in synch as this group, DC would be in the midst of a new renaissance period. At least weve got Worlds Finest as an aspirational title to show how good a book can be with a respectful and reverent take on the characters and outstanding visuals throughout.

This is a title that has a basic formula with simple plots, but its one of DCs Top 3 titles simply due to Waids comprehensive understanding of the characters. This is another highly recommended issue for one of DCs finest.

Robin has a solution to help his new peer and it teases a very fun team-up next issue. With this creative team delivering on every level this title cant miss and Batman Superman remains one of the elite titles in all of comics.

Boy Thunder isn't quite right, but he's surrounded by the best mentors and peers possible. This has been an excellent ride seeing where this creative team is taking this story and there's zero chance I'm not already anticipating the next installment.

The cliffhanger definitely is a wild one suggesting things are about to get a lot harder for this collective of heroes and their new ally.

Batman Superman: Worlds Finest #10Kudos to everyone who figured out Boy Thunders identity. For everyone else this issue is a doozy with a killer payoff.

The payoff for the arc was teased last issue and Waid fully cashed in here with the connection to one of his most acclaimed stories.Batman Superman remains a cant miss title with its stellar characterization, big action and outstanding artwork that hasnt failed to deliver each and every month.

Even in a "slow issue, Batman Superman WF proves to be one of the books you just don't want to miss any month.

Waid throws in a nice twist with Stagg's alleged murderer, which sets up what should be another tremendously fun arc. This book hasn't disappointed yet and it's just going to be a long wait for the next installment.

Theres two wild cliffhangers as Waid shows Batman and Superman are at their best when theyre challenged by credible opponents. The big reveal this issue shows how adept Waid and Mora are in establishing major threats to the Worlds Finest.

Batman Superman: World's Finest is simply DC Comics at its best with a creative team that is so fully dialed in crafting essential must-read classic-style stories each month.

Batman Superman is DC's best comic going today. There's some tough competition now, but no comic has the mix of action, classic portrayals of heroes and gorgeous artwork.

There's a teaser image for the next issue revealing a long-awaited origin as well as the return of a significant character to this title. That immediately shoots the next issue to the top of my must-read list as this book keeps on delivering exactly what superhero comic book fans want to see in their comic books.

Every month this title is one of my most anticipated and it never lets me down. Check out this issue for another fun and enjoyable distraction the way comics were always intended.

This title just doesn't have off months and is about as consistently a great read as I'd hope for with each issue. Next month, the team travels to the world of Kingdom Come, which sounds very appealing.

I'm looking forward to where this trek through Kingdom Come takes our heroes.

The gap between World's Finest and other really strong titles is getting wider. Not due diminishing quality from the rest of the competition. It's just that this book is just operating on a higher level.

Maybe the craziest aspect of World's Finest is how Waid, Mora, colorist Tamra Bonvillain and letterer Steve Wands make every issue feel like the latest installment of an epic maxi-series. Only in this case it's just a regular month for DC's top title.

The cliffhanger certainly takes things up a notch. Just when it seemed like this creative team couldn't top themselves further, they find another level. One that is sure to leave a lot of fans buzzing in a great way.

This was a brilliant conclusion to the book's most ambitious story yet. It's hard to revisit a classic and harder still to live up to the quality of the original. The entire creative team should take a well-deserved bow for crafting a must-read for Kingdom Come fans.

It looks like the next issue is slated for a July release. Given the amount of effort obviously put into this issue that's almost a surprise we'll get #2 that quickly. If it's anything near this quality we might be looking at a strong contender for DC's best limited series of 2019.

Snyder only has one more issue left in his standalone run on Batman. He covers so much ground in this issue while leaving an intriguing number of questions unanswered. There's no telling how he's going to wrap up this saga, but based on his groundbreaking run on the character so far there's no reason to doubt his final issue will satisfy expectations at the bare minimum.

Wrapping this chapter of their solo Batman run is artist Greg Capullo, who delivers more of the signature style on Batmans universe that has become his hallmark since the mid-portion of this decade. From multi-paneled pages to stunning full page pieces, Capullo delivers some amazing work bolstered by the inking of longtime collaborator Jonathan Glapion and the gorgeous coloring by FCO Plascencia.

Lost is an atypical tie-in as you dont have to read it to follow the Metal story, but it adds a level of suspense and drama that its almost a disservice to the experience to skip it.

These Batman Metal tie-ins arent required reading to get the full Metal story, but theyre so good youre going to want to read them anyway. Batman: The Dawn Breaker is another solid story with exceptional art making for any easy purchase.

Theres tie-in issues and then theres that rare tie-in issue that does something really special with an amazing concept. Batman: Devastator is one of those. Make sure to get this one.

Loeb and Sale havent lost their touch. The Long Halloween Special shows some of DCs finest future stories could be by revisiting greatest hits of yesterday.

I really enjoyed the unpredictability of this issue despite getting somewhat exhausted on Batman. Bendis and Derington make for a super duo and I'm looking forward to seeing where they'll take Batman next issue.

Riley Rossmo was an inspired choice to draw this installment. Rossmos art is so lively and unique that it instantly stands out from some of the other one-shots. Rossmo might not be the most detailed and anatomically correct, but his art resembles a dark version of the classic Batman The Animated Series look. The Batman Who Laughs is breaking down his origin to a bound and concealed character. Tynion doesnt offer any clues, but its sure to get paid off in Metal #4. This is a definite must-get for fans of these alternate Batmen as it definitely saves one of the best for last.

There's been some quality Black Label books and some misses. If it stays at this quality, Catwoman Lonely City might go down as one of the best Selina Kyle stories and possibly inspire the next generation of creators.

This was another superb installment for a series that was easily one of my favorites in 2021. Hopefully, it remains at this same level of high quality next year.

Lonely City has been a great title from the first issue. There's no faltering or weak issue let alone even an underwhelming subplot. If you've missed out, it's well worth tracking down the previous two issues and seeing what the fuss is with DC's best limited series.

Lonely City was a treat from start to finish and an essential take on Catwoman from a master storyteller.

Easily one of the more important books DC has released in 2021, this celebration of Asian superheroes spotlights characters that arent typically the focus of marketing material.

DC Nation #0 is all about getting readers hyped for the third year of DC Rebirth. After reading it, its hard to imagine not being stoked for whats to come in the core DC titles.

Like most of the series theres an undercurrent of tragedy destined to wipe out the slightest possibility of hope. Taylor knows what hes doing though even if we already know the fates of Superman and company. Fans of DCeased wont want to miss this digital only series that feels in some very interesting gaps in the overall story.

Whenever Taylor tackles multiple DC characters in any format Im game and Unkillables flies by as a new cast deals with the undead in whats already shaping up to be another must-read event.

Given how the cast is getting streamlined each issue its easy to see why Unkillables is just a three issue mini-series. Hopefully when the next chapter of DCeased kicks off later this year there will be some survivors left.

The issue ends with another terrific payoff from an earlier DCeased story. This pocket of the DC Universe has been outstanding and Im all set for the next foray into this world.

Do a Powerbomb hasn't missed a spot yet. It's absurdly entertaining and connects on every level Johnson envisions. It's one of my favorite books to check out each month.

And just in case there was concern that Johnson couldn't nail the landing, he throws a series of major twists that don't seem like they can get wrapped up in two issues. Is it too early to start clamoring for a rematch sequel?

Get this for your friend who digs wrestling. Get it for your friend who digs comic books. Get it for your friend who simply loves being entertained. They'll all be ready to give a long-standing ovation for the equivalent of a five-star comic series.

Snyder and Igle have a clear hit on their hands. The potential is obvious. Now its just a matter of maintaining the magic of this debut issue. Given the creators pedigree that shouldnt be a problem as we might be looking at another breakout 2022 series.

This is a near perfect time capsule take on the beloved cartoon series that feels like a promising start to another wild five-episode mini-series. Complete bias included this is already looking like one of my favorite comics in 2022.

Maybe newcomers wouldnt be able to appreciate the labor of love on every page, but theyd also be treated to one of the absolute best books on the stands today.

This series hasnt had a letdown yet with its ideal blend of nostalgia and earnest fun. Theres no silly gimmicks here undermining the plot and it feels every bit like an extended episode of GI Joe.

This was the rare mini-series where every installment was flawless. Saturday Morning Adventures perfectly captured the spirit of the source material with a fresh, original story that felt like it easily would have worked as a cartoon movie.

Geiger has been a very solid read since it started. It absolutely will be one of the Ghost Machine pillars. Fans of the previous mini-series won't be disappointed. Naturally this is an ideal jumping on point for new readers.

Each issue of the series is engaging and exciting without feeling most of the stereotypical weight of the spy genre. Full of innuendo, action, and suspense Issue #3 of Ghost Station Zero proves to be another Codename Baboushka mission worth following. Furthermore, shout out to Image Comics for giving numerous opportunities for creators with diverse characters.

This special has something for any era of Green Arrow fan and is absolutely worth getting. It also serves as a reminder that DC really needs to get a passionate writer and artist to deliver a new Green Arrow series " and Hawkman, Atom, Firestorm, Cyborg titles while they're at it.

Green Lantern keeps delivering a fantastic read and so far, it hasn't disappointed yet.

Guardians of the Galaxy #1 was a strong kick off for a series thats lost its way over the years. With the new team and mission, Cates and Shaw have an easy winner on their hands and Im looking forward to seeing how they establish this new era.

Even if you dismiss Harley Quinn as too much of a jokey, goofy character, this issue is well worth checking out for seeing how Harley interacts with DC's big events for 2019. This was my unexpected gem of the week.

These dream match-up scenarios are part of the fun of Injustice in the first place so it's a blast to see that further carried out in an Injustice comic crossover. I've got a good feeling about this one and it might end up being the most fun crossover of 2018 when it concludes.

I'm loving this book as it keeps going above and beyond my expectations. It's been a lot of fun and I can't wait to see how this team blows my away next issue.

It's been building since the start, but Seeley and Williams are finally ready to provide the epic face-off we've been waiting on — He-Man vs. Injustice Superman. We'll find out next issue, but this one does a great job of setting the stage for the big showdown. This is a book fans of either license needs to be reading ASAP.

This book is always so hard to properly review because each issue just takes me back to a childhood state of mind mashing two worlds into one play area. Seeley and Williams make this one of my most highly anticipated reads each month because they always manage to surpass my expectations with this immensely satisfying crossover.

We've got one more issue and Seeley ends this one with a crazy cliffhanger. This book has been so much fun I'm not ready for it to end. But if issue #6 is anywhere near as good as this, we're in for an incredible finale.

I'm going to miss this book as it was one that constantly exceeded my expectations each issue. My main hope at this point is Seeley and Williams feel inspired to find another universe to crash with the Injustice or MOTU gang.

DC needs to announce a follow-up series for this ASAP as Johns, Janin, Ordway, Bellaire, Kalisz and letterer Rob Leigh have done amazing work and it'd be a shame for this team to not have the chance to stick around with the JSA.

Annuals are always kind of a toss-up as they tend to have fill-in creators, but the Justice League Dark annual was every bit of the same high level of quality readers have come to expect from the regular title. If you're a fan don't miss this issue.

Beautiful art work and acceptance of more than one type of race, sexuality, gender identity, and magic definitely keeps this series worth checking out and keeps fans eager for what's next to come.

Johns' storytelling seems reinvigorated with the launch of Ghost Machine. None of the three titles he wrote this week were underwhelming, but Rook: Exodus really felt like the standout. If this creative team stays in place for two years, this has the potential to be one of the better dystopic comic book adventure titles in years.

Space Bandits #1 blasts away as another winner for Millar and with Scalera's lively artwork this might be one of the more exciting titles to follow in the last half of 2019.

I'm digging Space Bandits so far and if Millar makes this a Netflix series I would absolutely binge the heck out of this one.

This book delivers on every way from its colorful characters and lavish art style.

This special was an exceptional primer for Stargirl and the legacy character corner of the Universe. Hopefully it leads to much more from DC in 2021 and beyond.

You can take all the gloom and doom and endless brooding and mega-events you want, but this issue is exactly why comics rarely are better than when they embrace the fun. I legit kept laughing every time I turned to the next page. If you need a good laugh or just want a fun, no frills-issue, you absolutely must read Super Sons Annual #1.

This was maybe one of the more unexpected treats from DC in a few months as this annual over-delivered with quality storytelling, superb art and engaging characterization to make a strong pitch for more World of Metropolis specials.

We've already gotten some strong cliffhangers from previous installments, but this one is a doozy as Snyder and Jock take Batman further down his worst nightmare. I've got no idea where this series is going and I'm loving that sense of uncertainty.

The best issue of the series to date, Black Monday Murders finally shows Mammon the god and he answers their questions giving the reading a better understanding of his powers and how it affects the people that believe in him as well as the students in his schools. This issue also presents more questions that will most likely be addressed later in the series, keeping fans like myself eager to see the direction the series will go. Several violent cliffhangers towards at the end of this entry, keeping the reader anxious for October 25th, the release date for the next issue. — Pierre

Every month it seems like Image is releasing another can't miss, must add to the reading stack list. The New World #1 is an amazing visual spectacle paired with sharp dialogue. It's got a fun premise and looks like it will be one of the top books for the rest of 2018.

This issue is definitely setting the stage for the series to end and Im honestly not even close to ready to say goodbye yet. This series is a great for fantasy fans and has such a diverse, well written cast that Im just hoping they find a way to extend the inevitable. Twig is so refreshing because it doesn't feel like anything else on comic shelves these days. While it's only slated for five issues, if the first issue is just a sample, it's hard to imagine there won't be a demand for more Twig comics.

That's the theme for the entire annual. Typically, they're not worth the effort to track down, but DC smartly made sure to put forth a high quality effort to capitalize on the Wonder Woman film release week. And this really has something for every Wonder Woman fan.

DC has made strides to make annuals not the typical throwaway meaningless reads. The impact of this story should be felt long-term on the title and hopefully well see Orlando and Herbert collaborate real soon again.

Zorro: Man of the Dead #3 is a great installment of what's been a very pleasant surprise this year.

Big Game is not gonna be for the faint of heart and this creative team is knocking out what's already vying for the title of comic event of 2023.

Big Game #3 keeps the series' adrenaline rush pacing and action to another level with more shootouts, explosions and a dinosaur (?). It's delivering on all fronts and certainly worthy of best offering of the week honors.

Big Game has lived up to the hype and then some exceeding expectations to deliver a gripping and important story. This is absolutely going to shake up the Millar Verse.

I've been a huge fan of the Millar World titles since Hit-Girl's solo adventures. Big Game has been easily the best event book from any company in the last decade. Filled with shocks, massive action sequences and fan-pleasing heroic moments, this epic delivered big time.

Taking full advantage of a shared universe between Void Rivals and The Transformers, Duke #1 is positioned wonderfully to jump right into what's already been established. Duke has already entered the fray after an unforgettable encounter with Starscream.

Duke #2 retained all the aspects of the first issue and doubled down with established allies fighting each other and the tease of another familiar face who might be an ally. It's just a matter of which comes out last to choose between Duke and Cobra Commander as my favorite title right now.

There's no better book right now than Duke. It's got little company on the must-read monthly comic mountain as the creative team delivers a consistent book of excellence.

Duke #4 proved well worth the wait as the penultimate chapter of the mini-series sets up what should be a pretty amazing and shocking finale. I've got a theory regarding the start of this mini-series and how it connects to Cobra Commander. If I'm right it sets the stage for the Joes' first major mission. Either way this has been an amazing start to the Energon Universe take on G.I. Joe.

After a way too long hiatus, Green Lantern is back with a creative team that hopefully should ensure it's going to be a lengthy run in the same vein of Geoff Johns or Robert Venditti's stints on the characters.

With Green Lanterns second issue now wrapped up, its safe to say this is one of DCs current must-read titles.

The John Stewart backup story from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson, artist Montos, colorist Adriano Lucas and Sharpe, spotlights various versions of the former Lanterns leader both in the present and in the Multiverse. John wants to care for his dying mother, but he yearns to be back among the stars with his pal Guy Gardner and the others. It's too small a story to be fully told even as a backup so next month the story unfolds in Green Lantern: War Journal #1. Well, since Frank's not using it…

Green Lantern is exactly the kind of spark that should be the norm for this Dawn of DC era. It's standing out as one of the brightest lights in this new initiative and remains a lot of fun.

Green Lantern has the perfect creative team working on the title and now is as good a time as any if you've been sleeping on one of DC's best titles this year to start picking it up.

Green Lantern #9 keeps the quality of one of DC's best rolling with a sensational issue that sets the stage for a major storyline to play out.

Green Lantern is one of DC's showcase titles right now. You might want to get the previous issue, but Green Lantern #10 is a worthwhile jumping on point for readers who keep hearing about the quality of the title. It's very well-earned.

This issue was a real unexpected treat. The writing was right on point and the art was a terrific fit. While I might have originally been skeptical of the concept, I'm fully won over and can't wait to watch this mini-series play out.

Fans of either team should be all over this crossover. It's meeting expectations and delivering a high-quality team-up of two of pop culture's biggest groups. And for fans of both, this is the team-up you never knew you needed to see until reading this crossover.

If you were skeptical about this latest Black Label title, Johns, Fabok and Anderson deliver what might be DCs strongest mini-series of 2020.

As a mid-chapter to the trilogy this was a strong issue that sets the stage for a fascinating conclusion. So far this series definitely hasn't disappointed.

Cobra Commander and Duke are setting up a new take on G.I. Joe that is the modern shot in the arm I didn't realize the series needed. If these prelude titles are any indication, Williamson and his collaborators' take on G.I. Joe is going to quickly ascend to the top of the comic book charts.

Cobra Commander #2 certainly didn't start off slow, but this was another issue that breezed by far too quickly. This creative team is creating a must-read where the next installment can't arrive soon enough. This book probably needs to come with a warning that it contains highly addictive material that's barely satiated with a 30-day fix.

Cobra Commander #3 sets the stage for some major developments next issue. Whether any Dreadnoks will be around by the end of it is an entirely different story.

DCeased might sound like a dated concept, but this first issue is very engaging. Taylor is a master at building alternate DC realities and this one looks to be just as captivating watching another society fall.

Taylors unpredictable script is keeping DCeased from feeling too familiar while setting up the mentality that no one is safe. So far this book is exceeding my expectations and is quickly becoming one I look forward to the next installment.

DCeased has definitely exceeded expectations for a horror comic in 2019 thanks to Taylors no favorites approach and Hairsines restrained pencils. Im starving for the next issue.

DCeased has been a phenomenal read every issue and its exceeded my expectations on this style of Else world'sevent. I cant wait to see whats in store next issue especially after this final page.

At the end of this issue hope really seems lost. Im at a loss as to if Taylor has a happy/hopeful ending in mind or if the conclusion will be in keeping with the tone established so far. Either way I definitely dont want to miss whats been one of DCs best books these last five months.

There is enough story for a second chapter and maybe even if its just not the zombiefication of the DC characters again itd be fun seeing how Taylor could revisit this fascinating Elseworlds again.

Regardless of how the heroes return, Taylor and Hairsine set up a sequel that seems like its going to be every bit the page-turning, adrenaline rush of the original.

DCeased Dead Planet continues to be a winner and one of DC's top titles right now.

This book is amazing and easily one of the best reads coming from DC each month. I can't wait to see what Taylor and Hairsine have in store next issue with the tease of some reason for optimism for our heroes.

While more laid back and light on the body count, Taylor and Hairsine show they're terrific storytellers that don't have to rely on shocking death sequences to keep readers invested in one of DC's best titles.

DCeased continues to be one of DCs exceptional titles thats absolutely worth the investment.

There's plenty of surprises, reveals and betrayals this issue with Taylor paying off that Constantine quest subplot in a logical way that opens the door for a smart conclusion to the series. Its going to be hard to say goodbye to this series, but hopefully this creative team has some ideas for the next grand adventure.

Hairsine's artwork has this gritty, harshness to it that works beautifully with this story and the infected, Amazo army and Trigon look incredibly formidable. The inkwork from Gigi Baldassini and Stefano Gaudiano help to bring out all of the detail and Rain Beredo's colors blend the mix of blood, power effects and a depressed, bleak landscape to usher in a new era of hope and wonder.

DCeased War of Undead Gods looks to bring the same high level of tragedy and heroic deeds that have made this series such a killer franchise for DC. I'm all set for what's sure to be an emotionally heavy ride this fall.

DCeased has been DC's most consistent out of continuity franchise. Taylor and Hairsine keep crafting haunting stories full of horror and heroic actions. This was another outstanding installment of this killer title.

If you've been reading DCeased you don't need any convincing. It remains one of the more unpredictable and entertaining books from DC and despite its subject matter, is just as fresh as the start of the series.

War of the Undead Gods has been a strong read with no let up from the previous installments.

War of the Undead Gods has been a fantastic read with twists that never let up. Taylor almost has a formula established but the writing and artwork are so strong it still comes together smoothly and thrilling.

There are two more issues left in this series and Taylor shows he's still got plenty of options and ideas before the big finale of his DCeased Universe.

Its hard to believe the DCeased ride is almost over for good this time as its been one of the reliable series since it began. With this cliffhanger it will be very interesting to see how Taylor and Hairsine wrap their trilogy.

DCeased has been a tremendous ride. Taylor, Hairsine, Lanning, Beredo and the other various creators who've contributed in some fashion should be proud of the work they did in making a tired zombie premise into a superb story about heroes, sacrifice and family.

Strap your seats in kids. Dark Nights Death Metal is here and ready to blow your mind and expectations.

Itd be impossible trying to predict what Snyder and Capullo have next for Death Metal. The series keeps surprising with unexpected twists and guest stars. Rather than try to figure out the next steps, Death Metal offers a simple and sensible command just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Were more or less at the halfway point of this seven issue mini-series so Snyder and Capullo have plenty of story left to tell, but its nice to see the plan go a bit awry as new players emerge and everything is up for grabs.

Snyder, Capullo and company keep raising the stakes in this big event and incorporating DCs Crisis history to great effect in whats been a mind blowing epic.

There's been a lot of promises with various event books that under deliver but that's not going to be the case with Death Metal, an event that is finding new ways to impress and captivate readers.

This was the penultimate issue of the series and Snyder, Capullo, Glapion and Plasencia set things up for what should be an epic finale. It will be very interesting to learn the state of the DC universe following this event's conclusion.

With Death Metal, Snyder and Capullo hand the immediate and eventual future off to the next era of DC creators. Hopefully theyll be able to make the most of this refresh of the DC line.

I want to say more. I really want to get into that final page, but this is the first book since Rebirth #1 you absolutely need to read for yourself. Stay as isolated as you need to in order to avoid the spoilers. It's well worth with it.

Above all else, Metal is just an incredibly book. Whether you're a DC scholar or don't even know Cyborg's real name, this is too fun to miss.

As his been the case with every issue so far theres this sense of disappointment in the last few pages. Not with the story, but the sense that its going to be another extremely long 60 days before the next jolt of Metal-infused excitement. Especially with this latest gut-wrenching cliffhanger. Theres not a trace of rust on this series as Metal continues to shine brightly.

Metal #4 continues delivering the crazy, over the top mayhem this series has promised since the first page of the first issue. Grab this issue and have no worries of being disappointed.

The darkness isnt over yet for the Justice League as Snyder and Capullo still have some screws to twist. The situation definitely seems at its darkest place now, which will make the eventual turning of the tide all the sweeter.

Too often these big events are a major let down. There's not enough changes, too many changes and it all gets rendered moot six months from now. Metal #6 builds on the momentum DC has enjoyed since Rebirth and promises the thrills and excitement aren't done with this book. For DC fans, Metal #6 offers the the hopeful and encouraging message that we haven't seen anything yet.

That's apparent as there's not a major spoiler moment or unexpected reveal. Fans expecting that out of Doomsday Clock should definitely check out the latest installment of Action Comics. The fun of Doomsday Clock's kickoff is that Johns sets up a story that welcomes questions, imaginations, fan theories and everything in between. There's a mystery here and maybe Johns sprinkles in some clues this issue, but I've got a feeling this is a story that will need to unfold more to make sense of everything. I like that approach a lot as Doomsday Clock already reads like the next great DC story like Kingdom Come or 52.

Im already realizing the need for a directors cut edition with commentary and Easter Egg reveals once the series wraps. One thing thats clear already is Johns and Frank are creating something special. The cliffhanger this issue kicks off the surprises and is sure to jumpstart a slew of theories and criticism. Johns and Frank are already taking risks and its going to keep the comic world anxiously awaiting the next issue. DC has already found its next great epic after Dark Nights Metal concludes.

Johns and Frank have put enough out there now to really let the theories loose. Thats making Doomsday Clock a different kind of read as the speculation is part of the fun. Its also what makes the wait for the next installment seem longer than most books. As soon as I finished, I was ready for my next fix. Cmon guys, the clock is ticking.

The release schedule of this book has been a little wonky and the every other month change doesn't make the story progress any faster. Doomsday Clock is a slow burn, but there's nothing to suggest it won't be completely worth the wait once the story fully unfolds.

It might take a while for the next installment, but two months might be the time where we've finished breaking down the panels for clues and are ready for the latest chapter in what's becoming DC's most addictive series in years.

As always, the supplemental material adds layers to the main story. This issue was especially interesting as it played into a major character. Between the villain origin and killer art, Doomsday Clock #6 was another terrific issue. Hopefully the book can get back on a regular schedule to maintain this momentum.

Doomsday Clock #8 is scheduled for next month and with this set up, it could be the most explosive and biggest installment yet. This issue had to do a lot of setting the stage, but the end result should ultimately prove worth it.

Thankfully, Doomsday Clock #9 is slated for release next month. Given this pulse pounding final few pages waiting two more months for the next chapter would be awful. Doomsday Clock is reaching its potential in a big, big way and reading like a legit can't miss epic.

For anyone who was waiting for this series to pick up, this is absolutely the one comic youve got to pick up this week. This is the big sweeping DC epic we were promised and Johns, Frank and Anderson deliver big time.

It's been months since the last issue, but Doomsday Clock #10 is finally here and it's the biggest issue yet in terms of revealing Dr. Manhattan's role in changing the DC Universe.

It's hard to get fully swept away in this issue knowing that payoff could be several months away, but once it's all assembled Doomsday Clock is going to be fondly remembered despite the horrendous delays. Issue 11 sets the stage for a big epic finale with some key revelations and the build-up for the most cataclysmic showdown in the history of the DCU.

My only concern is Johns worked in some very cool and overdue fan service nods that really need to be part of whatever DC is planning for the future. If those are undone or ignored it would be a bad look since some of those developments have been teased since the start of Rebirth. Regardless, Doomsday Clock is in the books and as challenging a task as it appeared, it successfully brought the Watchmen into the mainstream DC Universe in a way that made sense and ended in a satisfying manner.

Junkyard Joe speaks to an uncertain time while offering a glimpse of something worth living for if the characters (and readers?) are willing to embrace it.

Easily the biggest disappointment is this volume of the series only has one more issue. Hopefully the creative team is already working on a sequel or better yet an ongoing series.

Every issue of Junkyard Joe has been a treat and hopefully it won't be too long before Johns, Frank, et al. revisit him and his pals again.

This three-way dance might not have made good on the title promise, but it was an excellent start to what should be a very fun crossover event.

This mini-series is overdelivering so far with great character portrayals and some strong action sequences. Time to send in the big guy next.

This mini-series has been a very pleasant surprise with how simply well-executed it's been on every turn. There still feels like plenty of story left here as it seems like this will have to go a few more months to lose any momentum.

This title has exceeded expectations so far and has been the best Justice League story in a few years. Whenever DC revives the title, Buccellato, Duce & Derenick and Guerrero are making a strong bid to be the creative team behind it.

Naturally, Lex Luthor is stacking the odds in his favor as this event nears its conclusion. This has been a very fun read giving equal spotlight to all the parties even if Superman has to stay on the sidelines to make the battle more unpredictable.

This was the strongest installment of the mini-series to date thanks to the emphasis on action and heroic measures taken in the sake of stopping the Legion of Doom and their monster allies.

I was a huge fan of this updated Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl series and none of that quality has been sacrificed in the first installment of this clash.

Niles completes building the fight this issue setting up what should be a memorable clash with his two titles characters next issue.

This series has made good on its potential and retained all of the exceptional quality of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girls solo titles.

Niles nicely wraps up the Patience era while still leaving the door open for future Kick-Ass installments. This mini-series lived up to the hype and promise of two of comics deadliest killers going toe-to-toe with a definitive winner declared by the finale.

Local Man was an unexpected surprise with a premise that stands out for its wistful glimpse at the past and the challenge of an unpredictable future. This is a title to keep an eye on in 2023.

Seeley again handles the Image-ized backup story featuring Crossjack in all of his 90s superhero glory. It's a tremendous contrast from the present-day story. This has really been a sensational book and it's made for a compelling read that seems to just be scratching at its full potential.

Local Man continues to be an enjoyable, well-paced deep dive kind of comic. Similar to The Good Asian, this is a title that connects on an individual issue level and will only make for a more satisfying read when it's completed and collected.

Local Man remains a stellar read with so many layers to it that the creative team pulls off successfully on every turn.

The big twist this issue really does provide a nice shock and as Seeley notes in the writer's section, it's always nice to see a comic break out of the norms and do something different. Local Man keeps scratching that unique comic book itch and delivering quality stories.

Local Man remains impressive and is simply a title, like its main character, simply can't miss.

The overriding theme of the issue is two small, but powerful words — Darkseid is. It's the lingering warning, foreshadowing that accompanies most pages. By the end of the issue that warning proves necessary resulting in a tantalizing cliffhanger. This is just one issue in, but I'm already expecting big things from this title. Don't let Mister Miracle escape your pull list this week.

Free of ongoing continuity, King is able to just tell a great story and this issue made for another fantastic read. This is definitely going to be one latecomers are going to be sorry they waited to start reading. Don't make that mistake and get on this title now.

I'm still not fully sure whats going on here, but I do know enough that I like it. Mister Miracle isnt the average comic and its one of the strongest monthly titles DC has going today.

This issue is filled with this weird mix of deadpan humor, slice of married life and tyrannical authority figures. Mister Miracle has been a compelling read, but theres so much more beyond the surface that could be broken down in writing or comic book courses. Its been a long time since Ive read a comic that had me thinking on multiple levels beyond just whats on the page, but King and Gerads are pulling it off. This is another installment you dont want to miss.

There's really not a lot that needs to be said with this book. King and Gerads continue to surprise and this issue was everything right with this series. It's worth all the hype and then some.

Its probably foolish to bet against them at this point, but its going to be tough to find many comics in 2018 that will top this issue. Yes, its the second week of the year, but Im feeling pretty confident. If youre not getting Mister Miracle, youve already figured out your first resolution for 2018.

This wasn't the most eventful episode of this series, but this felt like a fitting time to cool down and make a big moment out of an intimate milestone in the lives of Mister Miracle, Big Barda…and even the Furies.

Were on the back end of whats been a bizarre, unusual and memorable ride. King still isnt ready to tip his hand yet for the big payoff, but as long as the issues remain this enjoyable, Im solidly hooked.

We're just three issues away from the end of this series and if the last few pages are any indication, things are about to get a lot more interesting and dire for Mister Miracle.

This issue ends on a very ominous note and it will be very interesting to see what King and Gerard's have in store for the penultimate issue.

DCs cant-miss maxi-series nears its conclusion with a stunning shocking penultimate issue. It will be interesting to see how King and Gerads bring it home.

I love the open interpretation of the story. It can literally be broken down in so many ways by different readers. This has been a fantastic read and one I'm looking forward to revisiting many times over the next few years. Let's hurry up with that collected edition DC.

Prodigys return is a welcome surprise from the Millar Verse. This first issue gets the new arc off to a terrific start and its gonna be fun seeing where Millar and company take this mini-series.

Prodigy is Millar's second Netflix title so I'm excited to see how quickly it could be adapted for the small screen. This has all the necessary components to become yet another breakout hit for Millar and an absolute must-read when it arrives in comic stores on Dec. 5.

The Icarus Society arc feels like such a smart next obstacle for Edison. Hes got the challenge he craved, now its time to survive it.

Prodigy #2 delivered the goods just like the first issue. I like the tone of this book and there's a real sense of unpredictability about where Millar is going to take the story.

The Icarus Society has been a fantastic read so far. Millar, Buffagni and the rest of the creative team has surpassed my expectations with this new arc featuring Edison Crane.

Prodigy: The Icarus continues to be a fantastic voyage filled with amazing sights and some fascinating character work.

There's just one more issue left of this run, but I'm already hoping Millar has plans for a Prodigy ongoing series. There's too much potential and exciting stories to limit it to just six issues.

Millar gives Prodigy fans that thrilling and highly fulfilling payoff, but it wouldn't be nearly as memorable without the stellar art from Rafael Albuquerque and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. There's some big, sprawling scenes this issue and Albuquerque knocks them out with all of the proper spectacle and magnitude it deserves.

If you like DC Comics and heroic superhero stories, just go ahead and add this to your comic store box. You wont want to miss an issue of this one.

With the creative team, this felt like it had to be a lock for must-get every week status. It's still managing to surpass my expectations en route to being one of my most anticipated titles each month.

This title immediately shot up to must-get status as the creators fully understand how to make a great comic. If you're into quality comics, there's no reason to miss this book.

Shazam might not be the most high stakes book at DC but it doesn't insult readers' intelligence or deride them for enjoying these characters. This is definitely a top-tier DC title now and well worth picking up.

Shazam remains a winner and a must-read for DC fans frustrated that comics aren't as good as they used to be. This title keeps answering the call month after month.

Shazam is a terrific example of the importance of comics just being fun. There's no need for them to be so gloomy. This title is at its brightest the more it stands apart from the majority of comics on the stands. And with this cliffhanger, the fun is only just starting.

It's never a great thing when a critically acclaimed artist departs a title. Dan Mora was just as responsible for the success (maybe more so?) of this new Shazam run as writer Mark Waid. But DC finds a solid successor with Goran Suduka, whose style doesn't channel Mora while delivering art that looks appreciably similar to vintage Captain Marvel stories.

Is this the most substantial issue of the run? No, but it's lighthearted goofy fun. And sometimes that's more than enough for a good read.

This is a breezy and easy to enjoy comic. Sometimes they don't have to be overly intricate. This issue more than gets the job done and was a standout read this week.

One of the best aspects of Millar titles is that he's going to at least tell the complete story and has no issues revisiting characters if the fan demand is there for future chapters. The Ambassadors is already off to a fantastic start and I'm excited about the possibilities with it.

Millar hasn't done a lot of action so far, focusing more on the characters and their backgrounds before unleashing bad guys for them to fight. Ambassadors is showing plenty of promise and while the slow burn might be worrisome for a limited series, Millar has shown a willingness to continue expanding tales of books that resonate with readers.

Ambassadors is overflowing with potential. It's got a great concept that's being realized properly and the rotating artist approach has made each issue feel special. This is already becoming one of Image's top titles and one that's definitely worth catching up to enjoy the ride.

The issue ends with a tease on the epilogue moments from previous issues and a hint that they've assembled and ready to cause problems for the Ambassadors. This title keeps delivering and I'm thrilled to have my passport to go along for the ride.

Millar has set up a pretty intriguing conflict with Choon-He's husband and his team of super powered individuals. This face-off is building up to something special and an fantastic way to wrap up this initial arc.

This title has felt like Millar is really on to something with this premise and the concept was executed even better making for a thrilling adventure I'm anxious to see again in Volume Two.

The irony that The Good Asian arrives in the wake of so much disgusting anti-Asian sentiment is not unnoticed. Titles like this are so important to celebrate the Asian experience in America and help show the ugly side of American history. If it can also be told in a title as engaging as The Good Asian that's even better. Don't miss out on this one.

The Good Asian is an excellent read and has been a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to seeing where the investigation goes next.

The Good Asian has been tremendously entertaining and has been one of the Image books I look forward to reading every month. With the mystery taking some interesting turns this issue, the web only gets thicker and the story equally enchanting.

The Good Asian keeps delivering an immensely high quality story with fascinating character development and unexpected twists. It's still not too late to get in on one of 2021's best titles.

The Good Asian #6 raises the stakes and the mystery to another level making for one of the more riveting entries in the series. It's set up in a manner that immediately made me want to read the next issue. It's going to be a long month.

Pichetshote has one more twist on the final page guaranteed to make these final two issues memorable. The Good Asian hasn't had a bad issue yet and this title continues to be one of Image's strongest.

The penultimate issue of the series provides some major bombshells while still leaving some key pieces of the puzzle unresolved. It's been a fun ride and I can't wait to see how this creative team sticks the landing.

This was a crossover that sounded cool and then surpassed my expectations. The only annoying thing here? Having to wait almost a full month for the next chapter. This is a really enjoyable read that should please both Batman and The Shadow fans.

Although the heroes faced one villain early on the real threat is revealed on the final page. Given how great this title has been already adding this character to the mix ensures we haven't seen nuthin yet.

Interestingly, Snyder and Orlando are making this more than the basic casual crossover with implications that The Shadow has been in Batman's life for years. I'm curious to see how this will play out.

Robin and Batman looks like a title to closely follow the next three months.

This title continues to impress and this behind the scenes glimpse of Robins early career has been a fascinating read.

If you'd missed out on those series now's the time to grab the set for one of the best DC mini-series in a long time.

The Batman Who Laughs #1 hardly plays out like you'd expect as Snyder throws a massive detour in the next confrontation. This is looking like it will be a can't miss mini-series and yet another home run for the Batman team.

TBWL #2 was a flat out fun comic as Batman's nightmares are come to life. The final few pages reveal another character aligned with TBWL that should make the rest of this compelling series even more intriguing.

I'm really enjoying this crazy ride. I've got no idea where Snyder and Jock are going to take it next and how Batman can overcome these odds. It's nice to see Batman as the underdog in this kind of situation.

TBWL #5 delivers another dose of pulse-pounding and unpredictable Batman action. I've got no clue where Snyder is taking this story, which is a big part of the fun and the rest of the creative team is matching him on every level for another tremendous installment.

The Batman Who Laughs #6 sets the stage for what should be a very memorable conclusion next month.

If theres one weak area its the amount of bullets Batman seemingly shrugs off. Maybe some of that is from the serum, but it still seems odd that a character whos not typical bulletproof wouldnt instinctively avoid a few bullets.

The Magic Order has lost none of its charm as Millar keeps finding new ways to keep the title fresh. Ruan seems like another fantastic artist raising his game to another level in this series. I dont have any clue how this is going to play out, but Im content to sit spellbound with this latest volume of The Magic Order.

The bad news? Magic Order is a six-issue limited series. But I'll just have to take what I can get. The Magic Order #1 completely shattered my expectations and is a book you absolutely can't miss this week. This was tremendously entertaining.

The Magic Orders second volume is just as enticing as its previous installment. This is one of Millars strongest Millarverse titles and this is a clear jumping on point for new readers.

The Magic Order 2 isn't repeating the same tricks as the first volume and is still finding ways to dazzle readers with Millar and Immonen working beautifully in sync with this engaging title.

This was another highly enjoyable issue of a comic that's quickly becoming one of my favorites. The Magic Order has a ton of potential and so far Millar and Coipel are delivering one of 2018's most engaging and exciting reads.

The Magic Order never disappoints, and this was another stellar issue made even better by the faint tease that things are going to get better for the Moonstones.

The Magic Order #3 brought the expected tragedy in an unpredictable fashion as things now look their absolute bleakest for the Moonstone family.

Magic Order Vol. 3 #3 offers some smaller scale threats featuring great character moments and captivating artwork. This title remains one of the strongest on the stands. Millar and Cavenago are operating like an act thats been making magic for years.

The Magic Order continues to deliver and the halfway point of this volume keeps raising the stakes and setting up a memorable showdown. One that's looking tough for the Order even if they manage to stop the warlocks from calling in their major reinforcements.

The Magic Order never disappoints and this issue sets the stage for some big confrontations and epic moments to come.

The Magic Order continues to be one of the best comics out and again the only downside is it's for another limited engagement.

This volume has been one extended beat down of the good guys and with their numbers rapidly dwindling its time for Millar to reveal his big trick to bring some order back to The Magic Order.

This was a depressing issue, and not just because of some favorites getting killed along the way, but just the general tone of the story. It'll be very interesting to see how Millar wraps this installment up.

Albany still has one big trick up her sleeve and it's a doozy paying off one of the major subplots of the series. As always, the big finale should be epic as Millar starts to set in motion the roads converging toward Big Game.

The odds are against the siblings and Millar teases that someone has been working against the family all along. Betrayal is a hallmark of mob movies and Millar makes sure that has a major impact this issue. This series has hardly been predictable and Millar keeps delivering big moments each issue. With the shocking cliffhanger here the wait for the next installment is going to seem excruciating.

Easily my favorite part of the issue was the final page as it wrapped everything in a perfect full circle moment as well as the announcement that this is just the end of Book One. There's plenty more magic to come with The Magic Order and I can't wait for the start of the next chapter.

It's not a matter of if Millar can pull this trick off. The Magic Order has always been about narrative sleight of hand to lure readers into thinking the story is going to play out in one direction before he takes them down another, more satisfying path. There's clearly plenty of magic left in this series.

With thins being so dire for the Magic Order from the end of volume three to this issue, Millar and company saved the best for last marking an intriguing new direction for the title just as Big Game gets underway.

Hopefully, Millar and Immonen are already hard at work on the third volume as there's still plenty of tricks left in The Magic Order.

WFTT is already proving to be a worthy spin-off to BSWF. Now if only DC sees the full potential in making this an ongoing series

The team tangles with a minor threat, which doesn't feel that significant anyway as Waid, Lupacchino and crew are showing a Teen Titans book can work simply by spending time with likable and good-natured characters.

WF:TT continues to be an immensely rewarding read. Unless the creative team is overworked, there's really no reason this should just be a limited series.

There's been some tension brewing among the team and it reaches its breaking point with the arrival of the Terror Titans. If you're gonna wind down a team book, it makes sense to have them battle a supervillain team. With a big reveal in this cliffhanger and so, so much left to tell from a storytelling perspective hopefully this isn't the last time we see this creative team handle the adventures of the Teen Titans.

With readership down, DC really isn't in position to wrap up one of its stellar comics. Hopefully this break is more of a hiatus than the last time we'll see this iteration of the Teen Titans.

I already see that this is going to be one of my favorite books of 2019 thanks to this terrific premise and fun execution.

I love the entire idea of this series right down to the surprise villain which is a hybrid of two characters fans would probably never see coming. This is such a fun series and another great example of DC continuing to explore fun crossover possibilities with its universe.

This has been a mini-series thats delivered beyond measure and really has that epic feel. This was another issue that seemed to fly by way too fast, which is par for the course for one of DCs most entertaining mini-series.

This has been another tremendous crossover and this issue does a fantastic job of setting the stakes for the next issue. You know it's going to be over the top while treating both properties with the amount of respect they deserve. I'm not looking forward to the next issue as this has been too much fun to end now.

For a series of this quality the third time didnt have to be the charm, but the consistency of three installments has been impressive. Hopefully DC has a collection in store with all three chapters.

All the hype for this title is real and well-deserved. With a film in development, now is the perfect time to get in on this ride before it gets popularized for the masses on the big screen. Thankfully we only have to wait another month for the next installment.

The thrill ride isnt over for Bitter Root as this new arc continues building momentum and keeping every bit of excitement rolling.

Bitter Root remains a ton of fun and this arc is rolling with strong pacing, character development and gorgeous art.

Bitter Root #11 is a welcome return to one of the more fascinating comics currently on the stands. If you haven't grabbed the vine yet now is the perfect time to catch up on this captivating series.

Colorist Sofie Dodgson continues to create some of the most luxurious color combinations together to make for a visually arresting and gorgeous landscape.

Sofie Dodgson always adds another welcome element to the artwork with her lush and bold colors.

Bitter Root never lets up or fails to impress each issue. This latest arc is raising the stakes considerably leading to a fascinating storyline that keeps surpassing expectations.

DC has been hyping Dark Crisis for a while and regardless if you're exhausted on big events promising the world that fail to deliver, this is one worth checking out. This first issue teases what could be a revered and well-received event if the rest stays as entertaining and memorable as the debut.

Dark Crisis still feels widely out of place in the current DC Universe, but its been a fascinating and amazing read so far. This creative team is doing tremendous work and if the rest of the series is this strong it could become one of DCs best events over the last decade.

Theres been a lot of cynicism over Dark Crisis and its new title, but Williamson, Sampere and the rest of the creative team are clearly doing their best to make this an event that is fondly remembered for years to come.

This issue didn't deliver many answers, but the series still has plenty more months left. With the creative team intent on delivering a massive and memorable spectacle, Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths remains a very enjoyable and essential read for DC fans.

I lost count how many times I had a huge smile or nodded that Dark Crisis has the tone, heart and action of some of DC's biggest events, That doesn't include the numerous geek out moments where Williamson and Sampere completely nailed a scene. Dark Crisis might not have the company wide presence it deserves, but there's little denying each issue has been excellent. Bring on the next installment!

The big finale cliffhanger also feels insignificant for an event of this scale. It really seems like the lack of rich connections to the ongoing DC titles ultimately proved too much to make Dark Crisis as important as it should have been. Maybe Williamson can nail a satisfying ending, but it likely won't mean anything by this time next year.

No matter this came together nicely for an exciting and enjoyable crossover. Now that its wrapped upits a good time if you missed out to grab all the issues and take on one of DCs better mega-events in recent memory.

This is the biggest issue of the week for DC as it showcases whats coming for 2021 in a way that suggests less depressing storylines those appropriately seem reserved for the Batman corner of the DCU and a better sense of unpredictable adventure. Dont miss this one.

This was exactly the kind of kickoff this event needed as it raises a series of questions while promising some big moments and surprises. The next issue drops in three weeks and I'm already set to start my countdown.

There's a lot to be excited about here and Williamson and company are building the foundation for a fun event. One that doesn't stick to the usual approach of massive death and destruction to set up the threat. It's a winning formula so far and Infinite Frontier has been an event that leaves me more excited with each passing issue.

Infinite Frontier's final page offers a tantalizing tease on an exciting new future for the DCU. With Williamson leading the way, Infinite Frontier is setting up a very exciting direction for DC.

It still doesn't feel like enough story to warrant three artists. Paul Pelletier takes most of the issue. Pelletier is a very competent artist, but his style is a bit too smooth to work in this darker, more mysterious story. Xermnico and Jess Merino also provide art for this issue.

Infinite Frontier shows how to a massive small scale event book with significant repercussions throughout the DC Universe without tying up every other title. This has been a very fun ride and it keeps building well from one issue to the next.

While Williamson provided a strong conclusion to Infinite Frontier, he teased some major happenings for 2022 with an excellent cliffhanger. So long as that future direction is played out under Williamson's care, next year's event should make for a destination event for DC fans in 2022.

Tynion doesn't spend a lot of time assembling the team, which makes the threat seem all the more imminent and threatening. In just this first issue, Tynion teases that the Justice League Dark team roster might not be complete allowing for the possibility of more magic users to eventually sign up. As for me, I'm already hooked and eager to see what kind of unexpected and unusual adventures Tynion and Bueno take this team. Justice League Dark doesn't need any tricks when it's got such a strong creative team steering a potential-ripe title. This should be a fun ride.

Tynion ends the issue with a creepy cliffhanger and I'm fully expecting this to be the norm from here on out. This book didn't take long to find its groove and is definitely one I'm anticipating each new issue.

Justice League Dark feels incredibly fresh with Tynion introducing and exploring many fascinating topics and adversaries. Issue 3 continues to be spellbinding and one of the weeks best reads.

As big in scope as Tynion has made the story so far, The Witching Hour is excelling because of the tremendous character work he's doing. John Constantine is hardly optimistic on their chances and Detective Chimp fully grasps the futility of their efforts, but the team continues anyway. It's nice to see a superhero team against such overwhelming odds and refuse to give up. I'm really enjoying this arc and how much fun the magic side of DC can be in the right hands.

Justice League Dark #5 is another stellar issue for one of DCs best team books going today.

Tynion also doesn't drag storylines out and it's good to see subplots wrapped up over two issues. Justice League Dark has too much excitement to stall out on any one subplot.

As always, Justice League Dark continues to be one of my favorite reads. Its a special blend of excellent characterization, fresh ideas and gorgeous art. While this issue was a one-off, its a great reminder of why this book continues to be so special.

There's another huge cliffhanger this issue that promises a wild follow-up next month. This book has been better than advertised and keeps finding new ways to top itself each installment.

This was another strong edition of a comic that remains at the forefront of DC's most consistently entertaining titles. Tynion just needs to start showing some cracks with the villains to offer up some sense of hope that the team will be able to turn the tide.

I love reading a book that continues to surprise and shake up expectations. JLD does that with every issue making for a title thats always in the running for best of the week honors.

The issue wraps the Order arc while setting up a bold new direction and quest for the team. This is absolutely one of DCs best books and one if youre not reading youre missing out on a consistently great read.

This wasnt the titles best installment, but Tynion keeps adding welcome layers to the characters that make them more than just the DCUs magic corner of the universe.

Tynion and Bueno keep stretching for higher heights in their exploration of magic in the DCU. With the start of The Witching War, the book seems ready to gun for a coveted cant miss status. Thats the true magic of Justice League Dark.

Another month, another cant miss installment of JLD. This new arc has maintained the same level of high thrills, twists, surprises and epic action sequences weve come to expect.

I was a little thrown off with the Justice/Doom tie-in as Tynion is writing Justice League where Diana is off in the future while the green light in the sky appears. This should be a book that really plays into the Justice/Doom storyline so itll be interesting to see where Tynion goes with it.

In what's quickly becoming the norm for the series, the ending featured a terrific cliffhanger that looks to take the team down an even darker path before they emerge on the other side. Justice League Dark is a comic that tells heroic stories the right way.

With another major arc down and the very likely eventual follow-up to some plot threads in the works, Justice League Dark delivers the magic once again. This is a title that feels at times incapable of a letdown issue and the kickoff to the next arc already sounds very promising.

Kyle Hotz fills in as artist this issue. Hotz has the kind of style that doesnt work for every character, but a title like JLD is 100 percent in his wheelhouse as he ups the creep factor with his portraits and detailing that embraces the weirder aspects of the book. FCO Plascencia embraces the challenge of coloring in vivid fashion Hotzs dramatic artwork. They make for a great pairing that makes this issue unlike anything else youll read this week.

Ram V and Tynion arent letting off on the gas yet and this issue packs a lot in 22 pages. This was another strong issue with a tremendous hook to leave readers anxiously awaiting the next issue.

Justice League Dark remains a highly satisfying read and one that has been one of my favorites each month.

Kyle Hotz's art style probably wouldn't work for a lot of titles, but it's an ideal fit for JLD. His pencils are fluid with some sharp portrayals of characters in some scenes and a rounded, free flowing feel in other pages. It's a mesmerizing presentation that captures the anything goes tone of the book, June Chung's colors are key in sorting through some of the visual chaos in Hotz's pages and it's a solid partnership.

Ram V already teases in the first few pages that this won't end well for the team and this issue marked a nice reflection period before everything falls in to chaos. Justice League Dark readers shouldn't expect anything less.

Justice League Dark never fails to bring in an overwhelming sense of dread while wrapping the issue with a modicum of hope left that the team will survive. It might be fleeting and fatal for some members at the end of this issue, but its another eventful and always exciting installment.

The issue wraps with an somewhat ominous note of finality — with all the DC titles that have been cancelled lately, it's hard not to get concerned with a happy ending. Their adventures are slated to continue in Endless Winter and hopefully after Future State, we'll see the team united once again.

This chapter sets the stage for a big showdown with The Frost King as this better than expected event nears its heated conclusion.

This was one of the more fascinating books Ive read all year and definitely one worth checking out and passing on to your friends that dont typically read comic books.

The lettering from Steve Wands is important here as he largely sticks to a yellow font for Karen and a black font for Mal to ensure their voices are clear.

This was another immensely powerful issue and I really cant wait for the next chapter.

Even in a “lesser” installment, The Other History of the DC Universe remains a must-read series.

Its always a treat finding a new series that can be so much fun right away. Theres enough comic books with creators that take everything way too seriously. Give 6 Sidekicks a shot. This could easily be one of 2021s sleeper hits.

Batman Inc. has proven to be a terrific surprise. If Brisson and Timms can maintain this quality it could easily become another cant miss Batman Family title.

Batman Inc. hasnt disappointed since its inception and the creative team has a particularly meaty arc to dive into with some unexpected twists and wild action.

The ending is a worthy conclusion to this run for the team with Brisson wisely not blowing up the team allowing for another writer — or himself (?) — to eventually revisit the team that deserved better than a brief, but entertaining 12-issue run.

The Detective gets off to a good start as Taylor, Kubert and Anderson manage the challenging task of having yet another new Batman title stand out among the flood of Dark Knight books on the stands.

It'll be interested in seeing how this all comes together as Taylor and Kubert are unraveling a big mystery that is smartly and skillfully coming together.

Batman The Detective continues to deliver on thrilling Batman action regardless of how it actually fits into standard continuity. This has been a very consistent read since it began and the cliffhanger at the end of this issue ensures it's not going to limp towards a weak conclusion.

DC has too many Batman books in the lineup these days, but Batman The Detective is certainly a strong enough read to warrant enduring through any pruning.

Taylor raises the stakes appropriately in this penultimate issue that takes the series to a new height with the comforting notion that the best is still yet to come from Taylor and company.

Tieri and Tynion IV tease that Cyborg is going to play a vital role in Metal, which is welcome. He hasn't gotten many moments in the spotlight. With more stories like this, Cyborg truly could become the A-list player DC execs have envisioned all along.

So far, Metal has delivered big time and this makes for another exciting Metal tie-in. This has been some of the best DC reads since Rebirth started. Dont miss out on this one.

Despite the relative short camera time for Catwoman in her own annual this was a very strong read. Providing context for villains and their actions is always a sound strangely and Ram V, Hotz, Blanco and Ferreyra make this a terrific and must-read origin.

Clear's second issue ensures the first issue wasn't just an interesting premise and sets the stage for a very compelling conclusion.

This issue's cliffhanger is very unexpected and definitely sets the stage for an exciting payoff.

Clear is a briskly told story that doesn't overstay its welcome making for a project that's easy to see translated to a feature film format. Either way, this was a terrific Blade Runner style series that would make for an ideal read for sci-fi fans that don't typically venture into comic book territory.

Taylor has established another DC universe with Injustice and were at the point now where its easy to see him creating another ongoing Elseworlds series with DCeased. Its one of the best alternate takes of the DCU in years and theres little reason to think he couldnt keep this going.

Don't let big event fatigue keep you away from this one as I've got the feeling this is going to have people buzzing for a long time.

For those willing to fully get caught up in the mystery, The Casting is another eerie and captivating stop along the way to Metal. It's not the unpredictable page turner as The Forge, but it was another entertaining read.

This issue is not going to play out at all like you'll expect and that's the beauty of it. At times we get a little too caught up in figuring out where a story is gonna go and deciphering every panel. That's not necessary here. This is all about sitting back and enjoying the crazy ride. It won't disappoint.

This was a fantastic opening issue as Duggan and McCrea provide plenty of reasons why Dead Rabbit should immediately join readers pull list.

This was a very pleasant surprise and a book I plan on keeping a close eye on over the next few months.

There's a lot of exciting developments kicking off this latest arc and fans of the series should be excited about what's in store.

Im enjoying where Excellence is headed as it seems like the creative team is even more inspired by todays events to shape their magical world of tomorrow. 

Exorsisters is one of those books that seems destined for a large following. Its second issue further shows that this is a title that's begging for some sort of adaptation whether an animated series, a live action series/movie or even a video game. There's a ton of potential here and it's inevitable that it will expand beyond a comic book. Until then, readers are being treated to a very and easy read.

The One Minute War Special left me far more excited about the direction of the arc, which should be a good indicator of how it will conclude over the next few weeks.

Inferno Girl Red is yet another quick hitting, engaging Massive-Verse read that shouldnt take long to find and expand its audience. This was a promising debut and one that has me anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Theres a strong cliffhanger to wrap this issue that likely has more significance than expected since this is the penultimate issue of Book One. Groom, DUrso and the rest of the creative team are in the midst of creating something special so dont miss this one.

The short run for this opening arc was a nice bonus and showed arcs can tell an effective story in less than eight issues. This was a fun series and hopefully the creative team is getting set for the next installment.

The Witching Hour might be the ideal blueprint for how DC approaches small-contained mini-events going forward. Weekly releases with the same writer limited to two or three titles to make it easier to follow and digest. As an added bonus, the crossover has me anticipating what Tynion will follow up this event in Justice League Dark.

Neon also recalls Jack's encounter with her archenemy, Frightside, before sharing her origin. Seeley and Fleecs do a tremendous job of fleshing out Local Man's supporting cast and this was a very strong showcase for Neon.

I love Lucys supporting cast. Theyve got a ton of personality and arent completely helpless in a fight. And while its hardly a spoiler, the art is so fantastic and well worth the price of picking it up.

Orlando teases a sinister force that might have some connections to Martian Manhunter's past. It's rare that we get to see Martian Manhunter use his detective skills. This series looks to play on that to greater effect than his powers. This was a fantastic debut and one that left me encouraged about another new DC series fully reaching its potential into 2019.

Martian Manhunter #2 was another reminder that this is easily one of the most innovative titles weve seen from DC in years. If youre not reading this one youre really missing something special.

For readers looking for something challenging and different, it doesn't get any better than Martian Manhunter. You need to seek it out whenever you're at your local comic store.

Orlando takes the first step towards bringing J'onn into conflict with the creature operating behind the scenes. The big reveal is very effective and builds the anticipation for the next issue.

This is another newer DC series with a lot of promise. Its nice to see Mera get her time in the spotlight, but this is set up in a manner that it doesnt just have to be wrapped up in six issues.

Once you start this series, itd be hard to imagine pulling a disappearing act and not seeing it through to the end. This is a captivating title thats only to get better each issue.

Theres no escaping it. Mister Miracle is delivering big thrills, action, character dynamics in one of the best mini-series DC has put out this year.

Mister Miracle is quickly becoming another gem for DC that hopefully doesn't remain a well kept secret for readers much longer. By the time Easton and Ossio are done, Shilo Norman can take the character to new heights without being in Scott Free's shadow.

There's too much story left to wrap it all in one issue so hopefully DC already has this creative team working on the sequel or an ongoing book to keep Shilo in the monthly rotation.

Night Club makes a strong debut with some fun twists that gets right into the various ideas at play. This seems like another winner for the Millarverse with its eclectic and entertaining series of books.

Night Club has been a very pleasant surprise and a book that keeps exceeding my expectations every issue.

The rest of the issue finds Millar fully stacking the odds against the Night Club, who are so outmatched and ill-prepared for this showdown it's almost laughable. Only thing is instead of laughing people are dying. It sets up a heck of a mini-series finale and with Big Game imminent there's bound to be some ties to the huge Millarverse crossover.

This book kind of came out of nowhere, but it's definitely a title I'll be following closely through its run. DC might not venture into Elseworlds territory too often these days, but a book like New Order makes it work checking out.

If this arc is intended to be the prelude to an Outsiders title, with this creative team it will quickly be one of DCs best team books.

Oblivion Song has all the makings of a major hit for Image and is easily recommended for readers looking for something fresh and fun.

Redcoat clearly has the creative goods and fun premise to be a Ghost Machine imprint standout very soon.

Bunn and Luckert are weaving a compelling read. For those that like unsettling mysteries, it's not too late to go back and get in to Regression. There's a great story that's just started to unfold.

Regression remains one of the titles I'm most excited that I stumbled onto this year and is a classic mind screw.

I'm excited about this one as it seems to have a lot of potential. Hopefully DiDio, Jordan and Rocafort can keep the fun going. With such a wide open character, the only real problem will be their imagination and getting readers to give it a try. It's definitely worth taking a look and falling for Sideways.

Taylor knows how to write engaging team books and while this first issue is more set up for the new status quo for the Squad. This is a fresh take on the team that allows for a far more expendable roster, which should help it become one of the more unpredictable DC reads.

Taylor has some exciting ideas for his take on the Squad while Redondo and Lucas provide string tone-setting visuals. Theres a lot to like with this current iteration of the team and it seems like theres a slew of possible directions the creative team can take to ensure this is a memorable run.

Redondos art is so well suited for this version of the team. Hes established the new characters strongly with some basic visual cues like the short burst speedster Jog actually has a beer gut while Deadly Six has a smooth air to him. Adriano Lucas color work is exceptional with terrific shading and blends.

Daniel Samperes art with Adriano Lucas colors makes for an impactful visual combination. Sampere is such a smooth storyteller and brings a true cinematic flair to the story. His art is deceptively simple that I barely realized the issue was almost over as I got so caught up into watching everything unfold. Lucas is so effective at setting the mood with dark reds and bright whites as well as Winks teleporting powers.

Either way, Taylor and Redondo have made Suicide Squad required reading again. Dont miss this one.

The Ted Kord bombshell and the revealed death of Deadshot might have me somewhat leery of the longtime future of the book, but Suicide Squad is becoming one of DCs more consistently enjoyable books each month.

This issue flew by as usual and was another winner from Taylor along with Sampere. If youre not already reading Suicide Squad, youre missing out on one of DCs finest.

Its another issue of Suicide Squad and another highlight of the week. Hard to ask for much more from this series beyond a stay of execution.

The big reveal is a terrific payoff and one that might answer my lone gripe with the series. That will likely get addressed next issue as Taylor and Redondo end this one with a massive cliffhanger that will change everything for the squad. Except for the quality of this book that is. That never changes and remains one of the best titles DC is putting out this year.

Im hopeful this isnt the last we see of these characters and that sales will allow Taylor and Redondo plenty of time to share them. Either way this was one of the strongest modern takes off the Suicide Squad weve received in years.

Giving Flag a purpose besides following orders should set the series on a very intriguing direction. This is a very exciting turn for Superboy and the Suicide Squad and it should be a blast seeing where Thompson takes the story.

Get Joker has an engaging setup and the creative team makes good in that promise with a strong debut issue.

Superman fans have plenty to be excited about with Williamson making the title feel dynamic and unpredictable againin a good way. This was a worthy anniversary issue that looks to the future instead of reminiscing fondly about the past.

I think this is going to be my new go-to DC book when I just need a good laugh over some unexpectedly ridiculous scenarios. Welcome to the big dance Jimmy. You deserve this moment in the spotlight.

DC has a massive winner with this book and it's already going to be a long wait till the next issue. I'm a big fan of this one and highly recommend checking it out.

Hopefully this was just a rare misstep instead of a sign of things to come, but for this issue the random chapters didn't do a whole lot for the story especially since the more enjoyable sequences revolves around Jimmy.

I like the direction of this book as Fraction is showing different layers to Jimmy and setting up and elaborate and engaging mystery. Combined with Liebers tone appropriate art this has been a very special title with no signs of slowing down.

And if you cant appreciate a prank war with Jimmy and Batman you might need to ask yourself why so serious?

Need a laugh? Youre not going to find a better option this week thanks to another fun installment of Supermans Pal.

Right now its safe to agree we could all use more books like Jimmy Olsen and this issue might have been the best example why Jimmy's the hero we need and deserve right now.

While this maxi-series was largely tied to one extensive plot, hopefully DC will consider an ongoing series or at least another limited series. This creative team deserves to tell further adventures of Supermans pal.

As usual, miss Taylors taken on Superman if youre averse to quality storytelling. This was another fantastic issue featuring the new Superman.

Swamp Thing fans likely won't blink at the $8 price tag for this 81-page special. Yes, it's not cheap, but even for folks who don't consider themselves avid fans, this is well worth picking up.

Tynion has done an outstanding job establishing a stronger history with Gordon and Joker and this annual adds another satisfying layer to this chapter. The details Rosenberg and Tynion add really make for a captivating and engaging story. Combined with fantastic art this is definitely worth checking out this week.

Francesco Francavilla's art and color work incredibly well for this flashback story. Francavilla has a real flair for this noir style type of storytelling and it's an ideal fit for this story.

The Green Lantern is heading toward a mini-hiatus following next issue, but the impressive whirlwind Morrison and Sharp take readers is a wonder to behold suggesting a re-read might be in order very soon.

This was a hilarious debut issue and I cant wait to see what this creative team does with this title.

This book continues to be a surprise and very funny. I love that this book is unlike anything else on the shelves and is such a much needed jolt of fun and big time laughs.

While not directly linked to the main story, this was an enjoyable Annual that smartly was utilized to provide some more in depth look at the team and its prominent supporting cast.

Brisson wraps this issue with another keep readers on the hook cliffhanger. The series really hasnt let up since its debut and this could be the best arc so far provided the creative team can stick the landing.

X-Men fans, this was the return you've been waiting on. Brisson and Gomez make an easy case for the return of X-Men's leader and with a refocused Cyclops back, things are about to get much more interesting.

Wonder Woman and Justice League Dark #1 keeps all the momentum from the main title and kicks off a very intriguing mini crossover that looks to pack some thrills through October.

Theres a lot of potential with the Court and Talons and this issue showed this translation to the cartoon universe should prove a smooth and enjoyable one.

This series would be welcome at any point, but it's especially timely to get some fun animated series Batman installments during this period.

This first clash with the Talons proved thrilling in a impressively written and drawn two-parter. So far this book is off to a tremendously encouraging start for fans of the cartoon series and fun stories.

Writers Alan Burnett and Paul Dini do an excellent job of making a simple hitman into a formidable villain for the issue. Not every issue needs one of Batmans heavy hitters.On some pages, artist Rick Burchett seems to flatten down the characters to the point theres no depth and the illusion of three dimension in the panels is lost.

This is comic book comfort food. You know what you're getting and it always delivers. There's no surprises, but the thrills and frills are always worth it.

This was another fun installment of one of the strongest DC series going on now.

By the time I reached the last page I was already hooked and more than a little annoyed I'm going to have to wait another month for the next issue. This could be another big title for DC in 2019 so don't miss getting on board right away.

Im ready for more insight on the characters and how they endured a Nazi-run America and the month-long wait will seem even longer thanks to the high quality of this book.

So far Freedom Fighters has delivered exactly as promised. I'm already hopeful sales are strong enough to justify expanding this beyond its solicited 12-issue run as this story doesn't need to be rushed at all. The fun and resistance has just begun.

The book is closing in on its halfway point and while the story hasn't advanced that much, this continues to be one of my favorite books each month.

Assuming the streaming service still remains viable a year from now I could see this series easily translating to a very captivating show on DC Universe. It's got a compelling serialized nature that would do well in a TV format.

This is a book you absolutely need to be reading if youre a fan of underdog superheroes fighting impossible odds and a formidable unstoppable enemy.

The issue does make good on its promise to reveal a traitor in the midst though thankfully not in the way you might expect. Freedom Fighters keeps delivering each month and the only real question now is can DC let it go on beyond its original 12-issue deal?

Nothings convinced me in the slightest that Freedom Fighters shouldnt be an ongoing title. Theres too much to unfold and Venditti really seems like hes just getting started. This is my monthly encouragement to try out one of DCs strongest maxi-series to help make it a continuing title.

Freedom Fighters is one of DCs most entertaining titles and is overflowing with potential that should extend beyond three more issues.

Freedom Fighters has been a sensational series and this issue didnt disappoint. Hopefully the sales have been good enough to warrant an ongoing series or at least another maxi-series.

Ive got two more issues to say this, but I really wish DC would make this an ongoing title. Its delivered the goods and has been a welcome update to a timeless concept.

Artist Eddy Barrows delivers his usual big blockbuster style of action scenes and the pages look amazing. Colorist Adriano Lucas comes through as well with some dazzling work.

This was a strong debut for Geiger and Johns, Frank and Anderson set up an engaging world with plenty of potential.

As the official launch of the Ghost Machine universe, this was a strong jumping on point for newcomers and fans of Geiger and Junkyard Joe. This is probably a great time to get in on the ground floor of what could be the next great comic imprint.

Geiger is off to a very strong start and is looking like it's going to be one of my most anticipated book each month at this rate. There's so many directions this creative team can go and it really feels like they're just getting started.

Stow the devices, Geiger is already reading like an explosive hit. This issue had a strong cliffhanger that should keep readers invested even with the least expensive pizza.

Frank seems to be enjoying creative the unique looks for the characters in the various casinos and Vegas outskirts. The character designs are impressive.

Geiger's first arc wraps up next issue. This has been a very intriguing title with clearly a ton of possibilities going forward.
