Britannia (2016): Lost Eagles of Rome #1

Jul 29, 2018

I hope to see more of Antonious's personality in later issues, and I hope the art gets more room to breathe and experiment as we move forward. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I feel like I know this Roman story of corruption, honor, danger, and barbarian lands.

Britannia (2016): Lost Eagles of Rome #2

I'm a sucker for Roman stories. I'll snag issue #3, but unless some surprises and more solid storytelling are in store, I don't know how much will improve.

Plastic Man (2018) #1

Jun 13, 2018

The story is fantastic. It's got death, mystery, and double agents of a nefarious nature. There are some strong hints that other big-name heroes might make an appearance, and while it will be a delight to see Simone back with Wonder Woman, I thoroughly enjoyed this new version of Plastic Man. I hope that we focus on Eel for a few more issues, as he seems to have a lot of problems to solve even without the Justice League butting in.

Proxima Centauri #1

Jun 12, 2018

The story can be hard to follow if you get caught up in trying to 'understand' what is being shown to you, but once you simply read the book, letting the story and art catch up to each other, it becomes cohesive and vibrant, psychedelic and magical, strange and familiar at the same time. This is meant to be a prequel to the full run, so perhaps this Legion-like vision of Sherwood in space will change, but Dalrymple has created a world I'm excited to explore, and a story I want to read.

Tomb Raider: Inferno #3

Aug 10, 2018

I don't have much hope for the rest of the run, but hopefully, they can pull it together and write a great story for Lara, despite this mediocre and heartless start.
