It's hard to overemphasize how much I enjoyed reading Closer to Heaven. Andre the Giant is a fascinating character, mythologized by both wrestling fans and non-fans alike, but this book digs much deeper than the character to get at the soul of a man in a beautifully written, poignant way that will have you reflecting on your own mortality and pursuit of happiness. Backed up by stunning artwork, this is a can't miss.

With great storytelling and stellar artwork, Jessica Jones's new creative team knocks it out of the park. An interesting mystery packed with familiar faces is complemented by colorful artwork that seems like it shouldn't work for such a gritty series, but absolutely does. If "Blind Spot" is any indication of the quality of books to come out of the Marvel Digital Originals line, count me in for all of them.

With an extremely unique setting for the Star Wars universe and implications that could change how we view it forever, "The Screaming Citadel" is a must for any Star Wars fan's pull list.

The mystery is finally solved. Well, this mystery anyway. Aaron has carefully crafted a captivating tale here that leaves us with even more questions, but done so in a way that is a joy for the reader to try to piece together themselves. Add in some kickass artwork and tons of guest appearances, and what we're left with is an issue that's not to be missed.

If you're a WWE fan and you don't buy this book, you're doing it wrong. This is a celebration of all things WWE and the perfect way to tide yourself over until WrestleMania Sunday.

If you have any interest in WWE, don't miss this comic. It's funny, it's badass, and it's off-the-wall insane, which means it captures the essence of pro wrestling perfectly.

So yeah, it's good. Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and comics, the Marvel Universe or just fun stories in general should pick this up and get on board"we should be in for a solid ride with this new series.

Over the Ropes is working its way up the card, and has become a main event player faster than Phoenix. If you like pro wrestling, this is a no-brainer. But even if you're not a fan of the sport, Sandlin's story is concise, well written and interesting. And who knows? It may just make you a fan after all.

Sex Criminals continues to hit it out of the park, impressing with another issue that's all at once heart-wrenching yet hilarious, flippant yet suspenseful, and visually beautiful to boot. If you haven't hopped on the bandwagon yet, all aboard the next train to Cumworld!

Don't ever leave us for two months like that again! Sex Criminals continues to be one of the funniest books on shelves, and well worth the price of admission.

There's plenty more to love in this issue of Sex Criminals: it's chock-full of laughs, introspection, background gags and the eensiest bit of plot development to keep you wondering what's going to be happening next. If you're not reading this book, start.

Don't ever leave us again! Sex Criminals is one of the funniest books on stands today, and this issue only adds to its legend.

Sex Criminals has been so consistent that the real story would be if this issue were anything less than great. Thankfully that isn't the case, as issue #12 pairs the usual laughter and the feelings we've all felt in a relationship with a completely off-the-wall action sequence that isn't to be missed. It's the funniest book on shelves today, but also surprisingly layered.

This issue is not bad—far from it. It's an interesting perspective on a new character with a less common sexual orientation, and it's commendable and important that Fraction is bringing attention to a typically underrepresented spot on the sexuality spectrum. For anyone who has ever heard of being asexual and thought it was something made up, this issue should be required reading. However, as a single-issue read of the series, it's a bit disorienting and seemingly disconnected from the stories that have been told thus far. I'm sure it will connect to the bigger picture in due time, but it's one of those issues that will most likely make a lot more sense read as part of a trade rather than just this one single issue. Still, if you're a fan of the series, there's no reason not to read this one.

Funny moments? Check. Biting wit? Check. Expressive, emotive artwork, including requisite hypersexual closeups? Double check. Combine these Sex Criminals standards with an insane meta chapter featuring the creative team themselves and a little bit of plot, and you have a recipe for another issue of this series that shouldn't be missed.

It feels like an exaggeration to say this is a return to form, as this series has never been bad. But this issue maintains the off-the-wall humor of the previous few issues while getting the plot moving in a direction that is engaging and exciting. I only hope we don't have to wait several months for the next installment.

Never leave us again, Sex Criminals. There was a huge gap in my pull list for the type of emotional resonance and laugh-out-loud humor that only this book can provide, and its return issue for the first time in months lives up to the series' own lofty expectations and then some.

Sex Criminals is never not good, and issue #17 is no exception. However, readers who were looking forward to really hunkering down with the series' main characters may be a bit disappointed.

A very thought provoking, sometimes poignant issue that doesn't bring many laughs or progress the story, but is worth the read all the same.

Of course it's good. It's Sex Criminals. It's got humor, topical concepts, grossness and some of the most relatable, heavy exploration of relationships comic books as a medium has to offer. What's not to love?

ODY-C is extremely ambitious, and an entirely new spin on a classic everyone should know at least a little bit about. This must have been like what The Odyssey seemed like to the burnout kids in the back of my 9th grade English class. Might be a head-scratcher to some, but the pure grandeur in both the writing and the trippy artwork is to be admired.

What more can I say? If you like amazing, distinct, surreal artwork, and an all-time classic story retold as a crazy space opera, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to skip ODY-C.

I'm hooked. I'm a sucker for science fiction stories, especially ones that tackle complex ethical questions, and BOY-1 seems to be just that ambitious while at the same time crafting a mystery that should tie us closer to the characters and expound on the genetic manipulation theme. If you're a sci-fi thriller fan, you'd be remiss not to pick this up.

BOY-1 has an interesting premise, but issue #2 fails to live up to the excitement of the first. This is a common thread in comics, but in a miniseries slated to only be four issues long, I was hoping for a lot more story and action than what we ended up with here. Still though, the overarching story is oslid and we're thrown a new development to chew on, so I'm still eagerly awaiting issue #3.

Fans of sci-fi, detective noir and futurism will have their hands full with this miniseries. The first issue is a classic primer; a lot of setup, with almost no action to speak of. However, the beauty of this issue (and the series) isn't in detailed fights or choreographed action scenes. It's about getting lost in the fascinating microcosm Motter has architected. Like the titular Mister X, Motter has finely crafted an amazing city of wonderment, and as a new reader it's hard not to get caught up in it all. I'm sure fans of the series will have just as many, if not more, praises to sing about this triumphant return.

The drought is over. While this new series isn't breaking any new ground, it's a refresher course on what makes Sonic so beloved.

There are some oddities (why is Triple H eating a chicken leg before his fight against Sting at WrestleMania 31?), and some minor quibbles (even in the fantasy land of comic books, the Curb Stomp is whitewashed from the record books–this time retconned into a Pedigree), but all in all, WWE #1 is a great comic book for wrestling fans, and a great wrestling introduction for comic fans. And as someone who's both, it's a must read.

This series is a must-buy for WWE fans. I'm not sure how much people who aren't fans of the squared circle will get out of it, but there is enough intrigue in Seth Rollins' story to keep most going.

While the arc's new story direction feels a little out of left field, it's a welcome change of pace that deviates from what we saw on television when this arc's storyline played out on Raw, adding some needed suspense.

WWE #4 is a wacky story that we didn't get to see play out on television, making it another can't-miss issue of this series for wrestling fans.

WWE shifts gears a bit to focus on the Lunatic Fringe and an unlikely ally in Sasha Banks. I can't wait to see what happens next.

It's got a unique take on established characters and a pleasant pacing that's different from anything else in the series. The main conceit feels rather unearned and out of left field, but it's a fascinating pairing that makes for some situations that are a joy to read.

Dennis Hopeless is boldly telling stories WWE can't or won't tell on television, and it's must-read stuff for wrestling fans.

While WWE #8 goes off the rails in the first half of the issue displaying an absurd car chase with several extremely convenient moments, the second half gets back on track with well written extensions of WWE characters and a fun backup story that will hopefully lead to more.

WWE goes back to basics in #9, getting as far from the wild, out-of-this-world shenanigans as possible with a humanizing look into Roman Reigns' upbringing and psyche. Dennis Hopeless's WWE does a better job selling Roman Reigns than Vince McMahon's WWE does.

This is a slow issue saved by a charming backup. Roman is still brooding over the loss of his championship, and unfortunately, we're stuck on that journey with him for the time being.

A flashback to The Shield's humble beginnings gives this story a sense of emotional gravity as we look forward to the further dissolution (and eventual reformation) of WWE's most important faction of the past decade.

Harley Quinn #4 does what this series does best: it puts you in the passenger seat to observe a day in the insane life of Harley Quinn, from eating possibly alien-infected hot dogs to battling mechanical baddies in Mumbai. The pacing may not appeal to everyone, but if you've been enjoying Conner and Palmiotti's take on Quinn thus far, you'll continue to enjoy it here.

This is another ‘junk food' kind of issue, as while it isn't the most stimulating experience in the world, it drips out just enough dopamine to make your brain crave more. It also helps lay the ground work for what should be a more emotionally satisfying storyline coming down the pipeline.

Harley Quinn‘s always a blast to read. This issue felt like a step up from the last one, too–just as funny, but with a bit more to chew on and a situation we haven't seen her in before. I hope Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti write Harley Quinn forever. As long as they do, I'll keep reading it.

Harley Quinn #7 is a fast-paced, fun as hell adventure that closes out the punk rock epic. If you're looking for a dose of biweekly fun in your pull list, you really can't go wrong with this series.

And besides, like Harley and Ivy, who doesn't want to get away once in a while?

Shit's about to go down in Harley's world, and this issue does well to set that up. She's hanging onto reality by a thread and it's only going to get worse for her, and better for us, the readers.

This issue has a lot going for it–a one-in-done adventure with a unique baddie, sexual tension between Harley and Tool, and some setup for the incoming showdown with The Joker that'll surely be a lot of fun to witness.

Harley Quinn #12 may largely be one big action scene, but it's a good one. Throw in an emotional flashback and some questions raised about The Joker's motivations, and this is a pivotal issue for the series. The Joker vs. Red Tool for the love and affection of Harley Quinn–who ya got?

It's brutal, it's deranged, it's unsettling…it's perfect. Harley Quinn #13 is a violent reminder of who Harley really is with a punch to the gut and a twist of the knife, rendered even more impactful thanks to its stark contrast to Harley's happy-go-lucky adventures of late.

There was basically nowhere to go but down after this issue's damn near perfect predecessor, but unfortunately this one lacks the action, style or laughs the series is known for. It is setting up a story here though, so let's give it some time. The arc could turn out interesting yet.

Harley Quinn #15 is, like its predecessor, something of a step back in story progression and action, though Conner and Palmiotti are clearly building to something in this arc. And with the major pieces in play, don't be surprised if there's quite the firework display once we get there.

An entertaining, if low stakes arc comes to a close while planting seeds for future stories. This arc may not have amounted to much in the bigger picture, but it wasn't without its charms.

Harley Quinn gets back on track with an intriguing story, and multiple sub plots that should be coming to a head soon.

The "Red Meat" story line appropriately ends with an all-out, action-filled bloodbath that is impossibly fun.

A new arc kicks off explosively, and multiple simmering plot threads should finally start to pay off.

It's light on action, but Harley Quinn #21 provides plenty of answers and fleshes out several characters, setting the table for stories to come.

Missing vital story threads and presenting a plodding issue that feels mostly like filler, Harley Quinn #22 is easily skippable.

A blast of an issue that acts as a microcosm of Harley's character at its core.

Despite inconsistent pacing and another jarring, abrupt transition between two artists, Harley Quinn #24 delivers.

A fitting celebration of Harley Quinn, and the mostly excellent series Conner and Palmiotti have been writing since last year.

Much of the issue is a fast paced, violent action scene that is wonderfully written and drawn, and though not every character gets their time to shine, the ones that do are used to great effect. I can't wait to see where Harley's next scheme takes her.

Harley Quinn gets back to the task at hand in issue #28 as Harley makes her campaign official. With a unique angle, great writing and a tantalizing cliffhanger, this story arc is headed in the best possible direction.

Harley's initial foray into politics isn't off to a good start, but this arc is. The story is paced well, accomplishes a decent amount, and is a breeze to read. Despite having three (!) separate artists, none of which are series regulars, the artwork never suffers, either.

All this and a killer cliffhanger—which I won't spoil—that makes me practically salivate waiting for the next issue, and you have about as strong a debut issue as you can get. Max Bemis continues to show that his unique, grandiose writing style translates perfectly from the lyric sheet to the comic page. Pick up this debut issue and strap in for the ride; it's gonna be a good one.

While not necessarily gaining much more traction than it already had, Evil Empire #2 provides adequate fallout from its debut, and sets everything in motion nicely. If you don't often think about the sad state of politics, revolution, or dystopia, I don't know that this series offers much to change your mind, but if you're into this kinda thing, it's punk rock ethos in comic book form. What's not to love?

Evil Empire #3 starts off interesting and sets some ideas into motion that seem like they could really go somewhere, but then smacks you in the face with an abrupt ending that almost invalidates most of the issue. A disappointing ending and a questionable future is worrisome to say the least.

Mystery comics done right, as we're given some answers but far more questions.

Jessica Jones #11 mostly sets the table for the conclusion of the arc next issue, but it does so with a refreshingly unique angle that makes it a joy to read.

In many ways, this issue feels like a microcosm of the series so far: worlds of potential bogged down by a frustratingly plodding pace.

This story arc is absolutely bone-chilling. While this issue taken by itself doesn't progress the story all that much, it heightens the looming sense of dread cast over Jessica and her family perfectly. This is one of the most poignant, tragic, and well written stories on shelves today.

This arc of Jessica Jones, when collected, will no doubt stand as one of my favorite stories in recent memory. However, this particular issue is probably skippable if you're just looking to keep along with the general story, and it's certainly lends credence to waiting for the trade.

Ms. Marvel #30 is another fun entry into Marvel's near-perfect high school drama, but this one wraps up into a neat little bow a little too easily. This mini-arc was certainly transitional, but thanks to G. Willow Wilson effortlessly nailing dialogue and Nico Lean's signature art style, it'll still more than hold your attention.

Frank Castle is back, baby, and he's in good hands. Becky Cloonan has a great handle on the character, and Steve Dillon's artwork truly brings him to life in exciting ways. Keep this one in your pull list"it's gonna be a wild ride.

The story is moving along at a nice pace, and die hard Punisher fans won't be disappointed. I had hopes that this book would possibly take the story in a new direction, though, and this is about as standard Punisher fare as you can get. Which isn't always a bad thing–sometimes you just want to see a vigilante kick some ass, and that's what you're promised in The Punisher.

Sonic Universe #67 is an excellent jumping-on point for new readers, and the beginning of what could be a fun arc. Hopefully next issue picks up the pace, and while I'm not sure where he is, I'm hoping for an appearance by The Fastest Thing Alive himself in the coming issues.

In a lot of ways, this is Star Wars done perfectly—an interesting mix of the science fiction aspects of exploring new worlds and meeting new races next to the very human soap opera that is the Skywalker dynasty. However, the pacing of this miniseries still feels extremely slow. If you're a fan of Star Wars, though, you'll very likely enjoy this (and if you aren't, I don't want to know you).

It's not bad by any stretch—quite the opposite; the art is straight-up jaw-dropping at times—but like I said, it's just a little jarring, to the point where when comparing the two styles I was almost convinced there would be some sort of a storyline reason for the change. Kevin Eastman actually handled the art on the earlier issues of the arc, which makes sense why it has more of a vintage feel to it. Santolouco's art is still definitely marvelous to look at, and Dark Leo, when he's finally revealed, is just a straight up badass. Casey Jones' dad has seemingly had enough of being seen as an alcoholic lowlife, but exactly what he plans to do about it remains to be seen. Will he avenge Casey's injury? Further punish him for his insolence? His sudden breaking point was mentioned almost as an aside, although I can definitely see it coming into play in a major way soon.

Coffin Hill #2 sadly took a step back with the writing, bringing in some vague and some not very clear story elements. The book, however, still remains an interesting read and if you don't mind that vagueness, you'll really dig the book. The character is still very enjoyable, the artwork looks great, and some of the problems I mentioned in the previous issue are not here. Definitely check it out.

The artwork was also pretty good. The characters looked great with strong facial expressions, some nice panel layouts and some rather eye-catching images at times. I, however, think the coloring was not that particularly great. The colors are definitely right for every character and location, but it felt rather light. It wasn't bright or colorful enough like the previous issues, so it doesn't give you the exact same look or feel as the previous issues did. 7.5 The characters are definitely good.The new creature is pretty interesting.rThe moral is strong and different.It's not very funny.The coloring is rather weak and dull.

The art for the comic is very good and it has a cartoony feel in a way with the expression and movements of the characters. It's a good style, but if going for that, this comic could stand to be a bit funnier since it's really lacking in the humor department. Besides that though, everything is definitely appealing and great to look at. However, when the comic pulls back from people, it starts getting less detailed and people begin to look pretty odd.

Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues #1 is sort of in a weird place, as it is likely not a comic non-fans will be reading, and it just retreads familiar territory for fans of the movie. This is a #1 though and the story can go basically anywhere from here, so if you're hoping this series will end up being an enjoyable adaptation, "never give up, never surrender" on this series!

The Punisher plus Halloween is pretty much a match made in heaven, but this annual doesn't really push the character or mythos in any new direction. It's a pretty good read and hits most of the notes you'd expect a Punisher story to, but not much more.

The artwork this time around is by Leinil Francis Yu and it is certainly a cut above the parade of mediocre and painfully average artists we had on this title. He's got a good sense of detail that helps make everyone look different and unique, standing out from everyone else and he can certainly draw an epic looking space battle (one that eventually becomes a curb stomp). Though the colorist he is paired up with always seems to be a bit odd with how he uses his tones and shades, like with how some people seem to shine a bit. Also, Bruce Banner looks like he is in his sixties in this book.

Avengers #26 is just another issue of the series, with all the usual trappings of what you would come to expect. Average writing and artwork, boring to pretentious dialogue, decompressed run amok, and a general lack of excitement. It does show signs of what it could be if the story was to move quicker or if more energy and emotion was put in the character and dialogue work, but the series shies away from doing that. Ultimately, this comic is still hard to recommend in its current form.
