Secret Wars (2015) #1

May 7, 2015

In all, this issue was a fantastic kickoff to what will hopefully be the best event that Marvel has put out in a long time, and hopefully, this one, unlike many others, will have a lasting impact on the marvel universe that will keep readers talking for years to come. The art is splendid, the story well told with emotion and action extremely well balanced, and the content is well worth the higher end cover price of 4.99. Secret Wars is a must read event, for any comic book lover surely, as Hickman pens the end to his epic saga.

Wytches #5

Mar 25, 2015

Wytches is a fantastic horror book. The best I've read since Locke and Key, but then I don't read too much horror myself. Snyder shines, Jock shows his creativity, and everything is fantastically horrific, and I love the characters (Sailor is the cutest name ever, I love it.). This is a great entry in the series, and I find myself looking forward to the end of this arc, wondering exactly how Snyder is going to play it. I can't wait for it.

New Avengers (2013) #32

Mar 26, 2015

Definitely a solid follow-up, action packed, with great character rapport, I am fully invested in Hickman at this point, and I cannot wait til the next installment and will truly be sad when it is over and done with, but look forward to the new status quo it will bring. Again, hopefully with less of The Orb.

The Manhattan Projects: The Sun Beyond the Stars #1

Mar 17, 2015

All in all, I'd definitely say this book has earned it's spot on my pull list for now. Whether that's because it's an excellent comic or because I'm a Hickman fan-boy, I'll soon know. The story line pulled me in, the characters felt real, and the ending left me both laughing and confused, and I'm truly excited to see where they go from here. There are a lot of science fiction books on the shelves these days, but honestly, no one does it quite like Hickman.

Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #16.1

Mar 20, 2015

All in all, a fun read. A welcome return to the man who had the distinct honor of picking up where Stan Lee himself left off in 1972. I have high hopes for this series, and will definitely enjoy it in between Slott's more sci-fi take on my favorite character. I definitely recommend it, for all Spidey fans, even the ones who've dropped off in the past. It's a welcome return to the streets for our favorite wall-crawler, and I can't wait to read more of it. Conway adapts right into the new style of comics writing with ease, and I hope they give him more work after this, because I would definitely be picking it up, just like I'll be picking up every issue of this miniseries.

Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #17

Apr 1, 2015

All in all, a poor Spider-Man comic. Slott has become more and more disappointing as time goes on, but each month, I find myself filled with hope that this will be the issue where things start going right, and maybe, just maybe, I'm caught in Marvel's money trap, but I don't find anything wrong with my character loyalty. My current hope lies in the Secret Wars arc, which I will unashamedly pick up, and I will review it, and hopefully it won't be as scathing as this one. Maybe it will even be positive, who knows?
