Poor storytelling choices and inconsistent artwork have sent this series spiraling once again. The script reads like a post-apocalyptic orgy waiting to happen. There are allusions to the supernatural and past antagonists, but both the literal and metaphorical source remains a mystery through the final pages of issue #8. Instead, space is devoted to developing a mood of creeping dread, even if the inclusion of a floating hand in the magical, wintertime hot tub room seems silly given the juxtaposition.
