This isnt a bad idea for a story, and probably would have worked well a short story of fewer pages, but as a full-length issue it feels as though its been stretched out beyond its natural lifespan. Perhaps a more enjoyable Toy Story comic could be produced by shortening stories like this one to 10 pages or so, and running two stories per issue. If the series continues to provide padded and thin full-length stories like this one, I cant see myself continuing to be interested in it, despite my love of the original movies. Read Full Review

Unfortunately, the plot here is not only disappointing, it's a bit disconcerting. We've see similar elements in the source material, but Dan Jolley's seeming civil war among the toys in Andy's room is unsettling. Seeing the adorable Rex and friends trying to doom an unknown toy to exile or even destruction didn't make for an entertaining read. In fact, the overall tone of the plot was rather harsh. Maybe younger readers won't notice it, but their parents might. At the end of the day, "Toy Story: Mysterious Stranger" #1 is a lackluster start to the mini-series. I'm hoping the remaining three issues will have some more pep and wonder to them. This unfortunately just didn't hit the high marks that both Pixar and the Boom! Kids line have up until now, but there's still chances for improvement. Read Full Review
