Comics Bulletin - Ray Tate Dec 6, 2008

Who are the hunters, and what is the hunted leads to a merry chase for the reader in Hellboy: The Wild Hunt. The energy mostly missing from the last Hellboy mini-series reforms for the latest effort by Mignola, Fegredo and Stewart. Mignola keeps the focus squarely on Hellboy and as a result he doesn't seem like a guest star in his own book. He's an active participant. Read Full Review

As for the story itself? It's great, with Hellboy getting a chance to join the Wild Hunt in search of giants, and with an uneasy group of fellow hunters. Plus there are strange visions, talking animals, and a wooden box holding strange contents. There's a lot going on here, and the fact that this mini-series is going to be eight issues (which I believe makes it the longest "Hellboy" mini-series to date) gives me hope that Mignola's laid out more than enough space to get to it all. If you've never read "Hellboy" then this is a perfect place to take a look for yourself. Quite excellent by all parties involved. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen Dec 3, 2008

The atmosphere is assisted by the able hands of Duncan Fegredo, definitely one of the better collaborators Mignola has worked with. Fegredo's style is very reminiscent of Mignola's, yet still carries a unique quality. It's unfortunate that Mignola can't illustrate more of his scripts, a la In The Chapel of Moloch, but I rarely find his artists to be poor compromises. The Wild Hunt is not nearly as accessible as 2008's other offerings, and it plays out as a very simple tale i this early stage, but I still think Hellboy fans will enjoy themselves here quite a bit. Hellboy is one of those good things you can never have too much of, after all. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Ben Berger Dec 10, 2008

It looks like it's gonna be another rough one for Hellboy. Things have gotten bad early and we haven't even found a giant yet. Mike Mignola is one of the best writers working in comics today. His consistency and originality are second to none. This is another awesome Hellboy story that's a great starting point for new fans and a great continuation for vets. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Stephen Schleicher Dec 7, 2008

As much as I've followed Hellboy's adventures over the years, I have to admit there were moments where even i was scratching my head trying to remember what had happened before, and how all the loose threads lead to this moment. Still, I found the story enjoyable, ad if nothing else, it's forced me to track down my Hellboy Companion book to look up timelines, characters, and plot points. Hellboy: The Wild Hunt #1 earns 4 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review
