Geralt watches the fatal torture of a captive from his latest assignment. Afterwards he is haunted by a feeling of remorse. While traveling in search of a new job, Geralt rescues a stranger from a group of deadly enemies. He then escorts that person to their home. Once there, Geralt is commissioned by a nobleman to engage in a new mission.The Story:Bartosz Sztybor has created a fast paced narrative that is gritty, raw and very compelling. This episode does a good job of mixing content and action. Geralts newest storyline has me hooked. And I cant wait for the next installment.The Art:This issue is filled with detailed drawings that often portray graphic nudity and violence. The color palate changes with the mood and tone of the story, and has a water color quality to it. I found the variety of colors eye catching and interesting. Read Full Review
The character voice and main plot thread here works well and the chilling imagery sets the mini-series up to a high standard I hope it keeps. The ending pages felt a little rushed and jarring but I hope that the next issue fixes that. For fans of The Witcher awaiting the next series from Netflix grab this issue before it sells out. Much like with The Witcher: Fading Memories, there's quite a bit of bouncing around with The Witcher: Witch's Lament #1. Sytybor raises a couple of significant questions that hook you in, and I have no doubt he'll provide answers to those by the end of his new miniseries with the character. At the end of the day, if youre a fan of the series, this is worth a punt and its certainly good enough that Ill pick up issue two but, I do feel that we arent getting the best that Dark Horse can publish here. Read Full Review
