With the extended set-up of New Krypton out of the way, the training wheels have finally come off the Superman titles. And as much as I enjoyed James Robinson's first post-New Krypton Superman issue and parts of Rucka and Robinson's Superman: World of New Krypton, it's easy for me to say that Action Comics has definitely burst out of the gates as the most lively and entertaining Superman book on the stands. For those following the whole World Without Superman/World of New Krypton series, the once coherent storyline is now fragmenting into very distinct stories. DC did an excellent job in getting people interested in Superman again, and getting readers to buy into all the Superman titles before branching off into the different stories. So while readers probably don't need to read every Superman title now to find out what is going on in the bigger story, it doesn't hurt to continue. And that is the case with Action Comics #876; the high action earns the issue 4 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

I'm really loving this whole "World Without Superman." Sure it's been done before, but this time it really feels like the writers have a master plan which will make the overall story much more rewarding once we've seen the big picture. The "New Krypton" crossover was a big letdown but I'm willing to accept its purpose in hindsight--give readers some amazingly original, and creative books in its wake. Action Comics #876 was another unimpressive read. So far, this story has been quite ordinary. I would only recommend Action Comics #876 to action fans and to readers to prefer very traditional, straight forward and common super hero stories. For everyone else, I would recommend that you save your money and spend it on some of the other titles on the market that are offering more original and creative stories than what DC is giving us on Action Comics. No answers to the rapidly aging Chris subplot and a quickly derailed plot, which opted for a fight oriented character focus on Ursa, keeps this otherwise entertaining issue from being a Must Read. Read Full Review

A year with no Superman in "Action Comics" or "Superman" is a risky move, but so far I'm really enjoying the new directions for these books and the Superman line in general. It's definitely an entertaining read, and there's enough to bring readers back for another installment. That's all you can really ask for, in the end. Read Full Review
