While present-day Lex Luthor is busy fighting an array of the DCU's most vile foes over in ACTION COMICS, this annual takes a look back at two formative encounters Luthor had before he became the bald mad genius we know and love (to hate) today! Marco Rudy illustrates a story of young Lex and Darkseid, while Ed Benes tackles a tale starring Luthor and Batman foe Ra's al Ghul!

Weekly Comic Book Review - Alex Evans Dec 4, 2010

The best DC annual that I've read in some time. Action Comics Annual #13 is a very frustrating albeit interesting read. Comics Bulletin - Chris Kiser Dec 6, 2010

If I were to venture a guess, Id say that the two stories contained in this annual were late minute editions to the Lex Luthor saga that Cornell has been crafting in Action proper. While that series remains a diamond in the rough, this book lags a few laps behind as a disappointing companion piece. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj Dec 9, 2010

Ed Benes' does understated work here. It looks as though it was only pencilled and looks nice if unspectacular. So neither of these stories blew me away. Nor did they add much to the history of Lex. I'll be happy to get back to the current storyline. Read Full Review
