    IGN - Dan Phillips Apr 29, 2009

All in all, I'd say Battle for the Cowl: The Underground isn't at all necessary unless you're a diehard Yost fan or are just dying to poke your head around the corners of Tony Daniel's main story. If you don't fall into either category, I'd say go ahead and pass. Read Full Review

The Comic Addiction - Michael Smith Apr 29, 2009

The final page of the issue was actually a cliffhanger and refers you to Battle for the Cowl #3 and the newest Batman Universe title Gotham City Sirens. While an entertaining issue I felt like this issue existed for no other reason that to provide an introduction into Gotham City Sirens which will be launching after the conclusion of Battle for the Cowl. For me a one-shot should really be a self-contained story and even if it is a part of the bigger overall event. The issue was well written but we never really got a conclusion to the overall story. Unless you have to get all of the Battle for the Cowl tie-ins this might be one worth skipping. Read Full Review

I wanted this one-shot to be really good, but by issue's end, it is clear the only thing The Underground did is get readers to Buy More Olvatine. I did like the attempted hits on Penguin and Two-Face, but the rest of the issue continues to tarnish the Batman family of titles. I would like to give The Underground a 3 Star Rating, but ultimately it is really deserving of 2 Stars out of 5; it's worth your time only if you are an OCD completist, or a rapid fanboy that believe anything and everything from DC is gold. I'll let you decide which category I belong in. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Chad Nevett Apr 29, 2009

The only reason to buy this comic is if you're already buying every issue relating to "Battle for the Cowl" and, in that case, this one won't disappoint, because there's that big "Battle for the Cowl" logo on the cover and a pointless plot that fits in perfectly with the main book. Mystery solved. Read Full Review
