The costume was designed for her, and Arthur Light stole it. That only makes sense if you forget who came first in Justice League lore, but I suppose we can now since Infinite Crisis. Things are so up in the air that we have to accept the new order when we're informed of it. With a story like this (where Dr. Light fights the unworthy Mammoth and Shimmer), that's somewhat easier to do. Because we've seen this Dr. Light be rude, and we've seen her nemesis attack her and steal her power. But now we get to see her take it back, and swear to do better from now on. And what better use of the Christmas spirit than to offer a rebirth from ignominy to glory? Read Full Review

Whew! Sorry about the length of this review but I wanted to touch on each story. I cant say that I was disappointed in this book but I would have liked to have seen some different characters instead of those contained within. The answer to my question from the beginning (remember that?) is, Not much." But if youre in the mood for some super-hero laced Halloween stories or a diehard DC fan, than I suggest picking up this book. Otherwise, wait to see what DC does next year instead of investing the $5.99. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 23, 2008

In all, the concept -" Ralph and Sue hosting the reader, in Phantom Stranger-like fashion on a guided tour through some spooky, charming, scary or fun Halloween related tales "- is brilliant, but the execution is meager. As already mentioned, a book like this would lend itself to stellar talent dropping in a few pages (like an Art Adams, or Kevin Maguire) or new talent being given a chance to show their stuff. Either setup, to me, would have been more worth the money than the final compilation that resulted here. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Stephen Schleicher Oct 29, 2008

I really want to like this book, there is a spirit of fun inside that is trying to claw its way to the top. With those holes in the story though, it's like going to a house expecting full sized Snickers bars and ending up with a toothbrush. I'm giving DC credit for trying, and getting an issued filled with good writers and artists out on time, which means the DC Universe Halloween Special earns 2 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

    IGN - Dan Phillips Oct 22, 2008

The real question is whether this 80-page book is worth its $5.99 cover price. It's not. Not with its lackluster and uninspired scripts, and certainly not with its mostly sub par artwork. There are more cruel tricks here than treats, which means we'll have to wait for next Halloween for a Holiday anthology worth reading. (Because god knows we're not going to get one for Christmas.)
