Their two paths obviously converge, with the story set to continue in the pages ofAction Comics#48. It should be interesting to see how an almost mortal Superman will stack up against one of DC's most dangerous immortals. Read Full Review

Whether "Savage Dawn" will ultimately succeed where previous Superman crossovers have struggled remains to be sen. But at least this storyline is of to a good start. This issue offers a compelling look at the origins of Vandal Savage and the conflict that will soon pit him against Superman. Read Full Review

This Superman Annual is great in the simple fact that it allowed me to enjoy a Superman book again....... It's been tough lately and while I normally get irritated when an Annual rears its over sized head, I have to say that this book is a blessing after having months of nonsense from this title.  While the art is rough at times, the story alone should see you through with a smile on your face and a "holy shit" out of your mouth by the end. AIPT - David Brooke Dec 30, 2015

You're going to become a Vandal Savage fan after reading this issue. He's a strong character developed well over the course of the issue as the story cuts from 50,000 years ago to today. While that's epic the Superman story falls flat and doesn't do enough to connect both of their needs to gain more power. Read Full Review

Superman Annual #3 is a very good read for anyone who loves Superman. A depressed Clark is an interesting Clark, and these writers know that. The art has its pros and cons, which happens when a book splits artists. That is not a deal breaker though and this is one of the better annuals to come out in a while. DC got it right this year. Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj Jan 8, 2016

As part of The Truth, this annual moves the plot forward while giving us an interesting new back story to Vandal Savage. The credits are vast, listing the main writers of all the Superman books (Kuder, Pak, Yang, and Tomasi) and a serious list of artists including Dan Jurgens, Rafael Sandoval, and Bill Sienkiewicz. I wonder if all the writers needed to be on board to make sure that the plot progresses in a way that makes sense to the overall story. Read Full Review
