    But if JMS' Brave and the Bold issues have one thing in common, it's that they all come together in the end to make for a powerful final revelation or moral statement. For that matter, JMS' finest efforts on this book are a lot like brilliant little magic tricks in which a series of slight of hands all weave together into final moments that someone seem both inevitable and surprising. This time out, because of the absence of his most talented stage hand, Saiz, and a few missteps along the way, the climactic trick doesn't pack as much punch as it should, even if it deserves a round of applause.
