Ash is hurled into an American graveyard in the 1920s and meets an intense young doctor named Herbert West. If the name sounds familiar, West's obsessed with reanimating the dead at any cost. But he just can't seem to find corpses that are fresh enough. If the setting isn't, it's H.P. Lovecraft's New England - and his bizarre original short story as the source material. Bonus! Also featuring a reprint of Re-Animator #0!

“Army of Darkness/Re-Animator” is an entertaining read that makes you wish the crossover was a little bit longer. After you finish this issue, you'll end up watching the “Evil Dead” and “Re-Animator” DVDs all over again. Read Full Review

But on top of the layered references, the work is also dolloped with nods to classic horror films and Bruce Campbell works for the particularly sharp-eyed. So, if you're not a fan of either franchise, it's easy to miss the minute jokes and get a bit lost, making this possibly a poor starting point for a new reader. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Chris Wilson Oct 25, 2013

Army of Darkness/Re-Animator is a great mash-up of the two properties, especially for those who love H.P. Lovecraft's original story. Mark Rahner wrote something new and different and mixed the two in a unique way. Fans of Army of Darkness may be somewhat disappointed as Ash is more a secondary character and the story is different than what one would expect. The art is suitable and the coloring is fantastic. Unfortunately, Dynamite is charging $4.99 for twenty-two pages of new material with the rest being a reprint, making it a hard sell for those who've already read Re-Animator #0. Read Full Review
