Here we go with part 4 of the Origin of Evil story line. As I have said before, this book isnt awful but it is really cheesy. We are still in the prison where Ernies step-father is reeking havoc and sending possessed convicts after Ernie and holding a doctor hostage. Ernie is still learning about his powers and mowing through demons. That is about it. The book is very violent and the dialog is full of bad words. If you are into tons of gore and cheese this is the book for you. I think this series is just a bit of a nod to the era when the original came out back in the 90s. I would like to see what the post origin will be like to be able to judge the title a little better. Going back and reading the original series, this book does it a lot of justice. For me this is more of a guilty pleasure kind of title or just something to read for shits and giggles. But like I said, if you enjoy blood and cursing this is the comic for you! Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Feb 13, 2013

There is clearly more to Evil Ernie that I previously thought. I always saw him as a simple one-dimensional character. This series is showing that there is more to be seen about the character and this is the chance to see how his character will be fleshed out. The biggest problems for me was some inconsistencies with the art. There were moments trying to follow the pacing threw me off as I got distracted. I love seeing how Ernie develops here and it just feels like there is so much more we don't know. If you're looking for a fun read with crazy over-the-top scenes, check out what's going on in EVIL ERNIE. Read Full Review

    Entertainment Fuse - Nicole D'Andria Mar 10, 2013

Overall this issue accomplished less than any former issue. There is some good dialogue between Smiley and Ernie and Ernie's father and his hostage. Unfortunately their dialogue cannot save this issue. Ernie's origin story has already been dragging on for too long and this issue made it all the more insufferable. I've quickly lost interest in the characters and the storyline because of this issue. The novelty of this series seems to have run out. Apparently Snider has very little left to offer us other than redundant situations immersed in poor pacing. Read Full Review
