The goblins from Paizo's Pathfinder RPG are pint-sized psychopaths, wreaking havoc across the land. Infamous for unpredictable attacks, catchy raiding songs, hatred of dogs, and fear of horses, goblins blend mischief and murderousness like no other monsters.

And Pathfinder fans adore them! Since their appearance in the very first Pathfinder release, Pathfinder goblins have starred in numerous adventures and game supplements, not to mention miniatures, plush toys, and other merchandise. Now they get their own comic book series! Each issue in this 5-issue series features two goblin-themed short stories by different talented creative teams! When goblins gather 'round the campfire to tell stories, you know you're in for some tall tales... and probably a stabbing or two! Issue 1 includes "The One-Eyed Goblin is King," written by Adam Warren with art by Carlos Gomez and "Prize Pupil," written by Paizo Publisher Erik Mona and illustrated by Shane White.

Pathfinder: Goblins! #1 might not be the fantasy comic the hardcore fan wants. But if you like a little slapstick (with a slice of ethics) slipped in with your sword and sorcery, then this is a solid read. A nice one-shot to enhance your gaming and reading experience. Read Full Review

Pathfinder Goblins #1 makes for a decent read, which will definitely be better appreciated by a Pathfinder gamer (the Goblins are definitely using lots of jargon in their broke version of Yoda vernacular). Each comic comes with sheets that can also be incorporated into the Pathfinder game, scoring the reader that extra bang for their buck! Prized Pupil is definitely the star story in this issue. However, The Goblins are here for one reason only and that is to provide light-hearted entertainment that features graphic violence. So this issue gets a mission accomplished stamp of approval, but it definitely saved the best story for last. Read Full Review

If you're a tabletop gamer or a fantasy fan, "Pathfinder Goblins!" #1 is worth picking up. The art is excellent throughout -- always a relief in a media tie-in comic, which have notoriously low standards -- and one of the stories is really quite good. If you don't cross the streams your fandom and you're a comics fan but not into fantasy, $3.99 might be a steep price for one good story and a bunch of game stats. Nevertheless, this inaugural issue bodes well for the "Pathfinder Goblins!" comic, as long as its writers keep stretching themselves to come up with interesting, challenging situations for its little green protagonists.
