"SINGULARITIES" continues as the mysteries of Telsa's past are finally revealed. They may threaten not only Telsa, but the universe itself!

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge Jul 14, 2016

Descender answers a lot of background questions about Telsa and her situation that have been touched upon or given a nod to previously. It's a solid look at the character and serves as her origin story for the most part and while that might feel forced in some books it's definitely welcome here. The cast expansion has hit throughout the run with a look at the key players and Telsa's been one I wanted a lot more time with, particularly as I love her design and detail with the coloring, so getting a lot more of that from Nguyen is like win/win for me. A very solid issue that takes us to some new places at the end and has the potential for a really neat reconnect with other characters as the story progresses. Read Full Review

Big Glasgow Comic Page - Marco Piva Jul 18, 2016

To conclude, Descender is a very fine series whose main strengths are the characters" and the art. Admittedly this new issue doesn't exactly inject pace in the story (at least until its final pages), but it helps us get to know better an already interesting character. Still, one to buy! Descender #13 does an amazing job of giving us some much needed background for Captain Telsa, but ultimately retracts too much from the main narrative. This leads to me questioning whether the creative team are in fact stalling for time, as despite this being a captivating tale, it would have been better suited between arcs. Read Full Review

We've trust enough in Nguyen and Jeff Lemire to right the ship, but for any new readers looking to hop aboard, this arc does not represent Descender at its best. Read Full Review

    Spartantown - Enrique Rea Jul 17, 2016

Lemire and Nguyen are fantastic comic creators who've been putting out fantastic volumes for years. Their talent isn't in question but as a fan, a comic book reader, a reviewer, I can't ignore the questionable decisions such talent sometimes make. We're treading water when we should be further upstream. 'Descender' is a great journey but it's time to hit the gas and stop idling. Read Full Review

Can a story about Bandit be interesting? Let's hope so. I'm running out of gas for this series. Read Full Review

A bit of a filler issue but it was good nonetheless

So it looks like we're doing backstories for everyone with each issue in this arc. Okay, I'm down with that. I'm actually impressed that I like Telsa even more now considering I usually hate spoiled rich girl characters that are rebelling against well meaning and wiser parents. Somehow, Lemire and Nguyen made it work here, so writers take note.
