Despite being almost overwhelming at times, the latest issue of Captain Britain is loaded with high-quality, high-concept entertainment. And, while it isn't the greatest jump-on point if you haven't checked the series out yet, it's strong enough to make hunting down back issues a worthwhile endeavor. Consider it highly recommended. Whilst I've mentioned the Doom Patrol-esque misfit vibe of the book in earlier reviews (a similarity that continues here), I overlooked another obvious influence that makes itself particularly keenly felt this issue: the early Marvel work of Steve Ditko, in particular his Doctor Strange stories. The character of Plokta is highly reminiscent of Ditko's design for Eternity, a character that appeared in Doctor Strange in the 1960s. Read Full Review
