While not terribly intriguing, this story was still fun. In the end we're left with a cliffhanger that might leave you anxious to read the next issue. Depends on how you feel about Joelle, the Suicide Girl pin-up. Read Full Review

At the end of the day, Gambit #8 is one of those comics I love because it's a character focus. The whole title has been like that so far. No matter what may be externally happening, Gambit is always able to make the story center around him through his charming personality and entertaining interactions with his surroundings. All-in-all, if you're looking for a fun title that isn't heavy handed and is really focused on character growth, pick Gambit #8 up. It's a good jumping on point. Read Full Review

Look, I'll be the first to admit that I probably enjoyed this more than I should simply because Gambit has always been one of my favorites. There's no denying this issue is filler (unless we return to what's going on in the Forever City, and that feels unlikely at this point since it's being passed off to Beast), but it's definitely a fairly entertaining distraction. The cliffhanger establishes a bigger plot point ahead and that's something that totally has my interest piqued. I'm looking forward to seeing Gambit encounter some familiar enemies (ZE LEAPER!) and where his interactions with Joelle will take us. Read Full Review

I'd love to be reading about Gambit's adventures in a solo title, and I may give this another try as I seem to have just been unlucky in the issues I've picked -- the first had some technical issues with the art that I heard were solved -- and here we've got the giant team of artists all chipping in. I see Rogue due to appear in a future issue soon, so perhaps I'll give that a try to see how Asmus handles that relationship. I find, despite the disappointment, I don't want to give up on "Gambit" just quite yet. Read Full Review
