    This is easily the best issue of Hulk in its two-year lifespan, for whatever that statement is worth. It's probably no coincidence that Red Hulk is all but absent this month. However, it's really the art that steals the show, as Loeb is still struggling to find his footing. But with all the Hulk-related books in December performing well, I think it's safe to say Fall of the Hulks is off to a promising start. Read Full Review

    I was tempted to bump this issue up to "Byrne It" status because it does give some insight into the future of the Fall of the Hulks storyline, but the predictable twists and incredibly uneven nature of the art are just too hard to swallow. I really hate to jump on the bashing Loeb bandwagon because I know how ridiculously talented he is, but this is a far cry from the brilliance he was exhibiting while at DC. Read Full Review

    It's hard to do insightful when the message of the book is forget intelligence and embrace big stupid fighting and your artist is known for pin-ups not storytelling. Perhaps if there were a stronger case presented here for why Samson takes this ill-advised turn, this issue would be more tolerable, but it comes across as undoing much of the work done by previous writers and striping the character of the elements that make him interesting. Then again, if "Hulk" was lacking anything, it was angry, stupid guys who just want to fight. Read Full Review
