Part of my enjoyment of this issue is that it does a pretty fair job of showing me that in spite of the previous issue, the writers have a pretty good grasp on the character of Rahne, as her encounter with Dani displays a strong understanding of the relationship these two used to share, and the scene where Josh points out why Rahne needs her powers back was a solid little character moment. I also have to say I'm delighted by the final page of the issue, as not only does it deliver an intense finish to carry us into the next issue, but it's also a development that I actively welcome. Now the book opens with an awkwardly written opening scene with the White Queen that I felt failed to capture the darker edge that makes the character an appealing addition to the teaching staff, and the romance between Rahne and Josh felt like a plot contrivance more that a genuine expression of feeling.
