On the whole, I think I'd be a little more receptive to this arc if it wasn't so darned ugly. To be fair, Howard Chaykin is pretty talented at depicting movement and action. It's just that his figures are so darned horrendous. I can only hope that Marvel has a satisfactory replacement in mind for Fraction's final arc. "Punisher War Journal" is a good Marvel book, every month. And with Chaykin on board as the artist, it's now reaching its peak -- aesthetically and dramatically. I can't imagine anyone deciding to start buying this comic now, during part four of a six part arc, but if you've skipped this series before and find yourself liking the work Matt Fraction has done elsewhere, I think you might want to check out some back issues, or pick up a collected edition or two. Anyway, like I said at the top, maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just done with the MU Punisher as a character. Or maybe I'm just not digging the way the team of Fraction and Remender are gelling. I haven't really noticed any major difference in the voice of the character (although Frank is a bit on the sentimental side this issue) or in the pacing. It's just not working for me. I'm afraid this might be another title that gets sacrificed to keep putting gas in my car and to keep the air conditioner running in my home. Read Full Review
