Comics Bulletin - David Wallace May 12, 2009

The past few issues of Ultimate Spider-Man have been a great example of a writer taking an idea that he has been asked to incorporate for editorial reasons and turning it into something that not only feels as though it belongs in his book, but works better there than it does anywhere else. The issue ends with a predictable cliffhanger that promises to be resolved next month, and will hopefully settle the issue of Peter Parker's Ultimate fate. (Sorry, I couldn't resist that pun.) Still, any Ultimate Spider-Man is better than no Ultimate Spider-Man, and while Mary Jane and Peter have barely had a chance to get their romance going, at least Ultimate Mephestio didn't get his hooks into the couple. Bendis is working with what he has been given, and he does a good job of it. While there have been much better Ultimate Spider-Man stories, there have also been a few bad Ultimate Spider-Man stories. Ultimate Spider-Man #132 falls somewhere above meh, but far short of stellar to earn 3 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Rob G. May 15, 2009

Although this issue is rather poor, it is a necessary piece in the puzzle. I'm hoping that the next issue will have a big rebound as the characters and plotlines coalesce. Read Full Review
