"Eulogy" After the hammer-blow of FEAR ITSELF and the violence of SCHISM, it can't go on. It's the end of the Uncanny X-Men. And who better to provide a stirring eulogy than... MISTER SINISTER? Join us for the end of the industry-shaping series with the return of the 19th century's finest morally dubious scientist.

It returned the real, true, legitimate MR. SINISTER!!! Possibly my favorite X-Men villain, and one of my favorite villains in ALL of comic books. Whenever I think back on this issue I find myself adding an extra 1/2 to the score over and over again because the stuff with Sinister was THAT awesome. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - James Hunt Oct 19, 2011

Regardless of whether you accept the premise of this being Uncanny X-Men's "final" issue, there is, at least, the sense of an era ending here. The characters are grave and pensive, even if the story they're wrapped in is a little more knowing about their situation. It's not so much a victory lap as it is a limp back home with aching thighs and the knowledge that you've got to go out for another run tomorrow. But that's all right. "Schism" has left the X-Men in uncertain straits, and while this doesn't clear the board, it does, at least, convincingly reset the pieces. Read Full Review

Yes, this issue rehashes much of what has already been said about this moment in the X-Men history, but it also serves as strong punctuation to the first volume of Uncanny X-Men. If Marvel is truly going into a new phase in the history of the title, Gillen and Land have given us a reverent and effective divider between what has been and what is to come. Although you may not like it now, chances are that readers of the final collected edition of Uncanny Volume 1 will look upon it more favorably, and that is the appropriate context in which this issue should be examined. A Comic Book Blog - Victor Kutsenok Oct 26, 2011

If this series was to end tomorrow, I would be ashamed to think that this was my last exposure to one of the most groundbreaking comic titles of all time. I think that canceling this series, in general, just so it can be renumbered, is an insult to all of the long time X-Men fans out there. Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Oct 19, 2011

Schism had its ups and downs but the end results in splitting the team is setting up an interesting new direction, two in fact, for the X-Men. The final issue of that mini along with the Regenesis one shot seemed to tie up all the loose ends yet this 'epilogue' issue is also dealing with all that. As a final issue (until November's relaunch), this didn't really deliver anything really important. The return of a certain villain is a good set up for possible future conflicts and seeing Cyclops come to terms with the schism were nice touches. Having read Uncanny X-Men for so long, I would've liked a bigger send off if a big deal is meant to be made out of this "final issue" (as splashed across the cover). Greg Land drew some interesting scenes with the villains but everyone else spent too much time smiling. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to November's Uncanny X-Men #1. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Dean Stell Oct 22, 2011

This series deserved a better send off. It's really frustrating to have to complain about Land's art month-after-month, but when that is the chief problem with the book month-after-month, that's what a reviewer does. The good writing can't save a pedestrian concept and the art is really problematic (again). Read Full Review
