We X-Men fans are truly being treated with an abundance of fantastic content from Marvel lately. The writing and dialogue continue to impress, as expected! The emotional depth portrayed in each scenario within the comic was remarkable. We're two issues in, and I already wish this four-issue series was ongoing. Foxe nails each character, and Salva is the perfect artist to bring out the animated show's charm in comic book format. Plot
This comic takes place nine months before the new animated series X-men '97 on Disney + and just days after the disappearance of Charles Xavier in the final chapter Graduation Day.
Scott has just found out that Jean Gray is pregnant, Logan can't stand the news and goes to have a drink, Storm follows Logan worried about his reactions and Bishop, Gambit, Jubilee and Rogue return in the Black Bird after having been in the attack they did on Dazzler.
Mr. Sinister wants to take advantage of Xavier's fall to eliminate the X-men, for that he creates the Sinister Seven who will systematically attack:
-Cyclops, Jean and Beast are attacked by Hazard.
-Jubilee, Bishop, Rogue and Gambit are attacked by S more
Steve Foxe delivers another heaping helping of low-stakes fun, exactly what this mini should be. This issue could have easily been ripped straight from the show’s storyboards.
Foxe nails the characters perfectly. Every hero & villain drips with the perfect amount of camp, delivering dialogue that sounds like it was lifted straight from the show’s iconic voice actors. In fact, this might be some of Foxe’s best X-Men work in recent memory, easily surpassing Dead X-Men & Dark X-Men.
The art by Salva Espín & colors by Matt Milla are the perfect complements to the script. The visuals are vibrant & energetic, bouncing off the page w/ a look that perfectly captures the animated series’ aesthetic.

It's not quite in sync with the show in terms of vibes and voice, but it *is* in sync with the OG cartoon. It's a little insubstantial, but that's fine.
