When the Allies and Nazis develop time-diving technology that could see the course of World War II dertailed by creatures from the Cretaceous period, only the Sarge and his band of misfit soldiers can save the future - by saving history! Dinosaurs! Giant crocodiles! Time travel! Nazis! Albert Einstein with a machine gun!
Stuart does a fabulous job here on both writing and art, I loved the dialog when the soldiers are moving towards their objective through the jungle. Is it WW II era accurate? I'm not sure, but I loved it anyway. The art is gorgeous, the dinosaurs and landscapes are beautifully rendered, the colors are lush & really "pop". The shocks and surprises at almost every page turn as the body count builds up until the conclusion where we're left with a great "What's going to happen next?!?" in the final panel with a cliched but very cool guest star who I hope will be playing a part in upcoming issues. Do yourself a favor this week and give this book a shot. You'll enjoy it a whole lot more than that other similarly priced book bought out of habit. Stuart Jennett put a lot of pride and craftsmanship into "Chronos Commandos: Dawn Patrol" #1 and it shows. Clearly Jennett had fun along the way despite the bullets and blood. Readers will too. Chrono Commandos #1 is a great opening for this new series from a great up-and-coming publisher. Titan Comics is most definitely worthy of your attention, and Chrono Commandos should be one of their flagship titles. The story is classic, but also fresh and exciting; the dialogue is natural and well-suited to the genre and theme(s), while the art will surely blow you away! Be sure to check this one out. Overall my experience with Chronos Commandos was great and I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to catch a break from the usual super hero fare. With a great story idea and some beautiful art to match you will not be disappointed. All I can is, Titan Comics, can you hook a brotha up with the second issue? Read Full Review
I went in to the comic fully expecting what it turned out to be. It knows what type of comic it is and wants to be and delivers it in beautiful pages and art. Chronos Commandos could wind up being one of the most fun pulp comics of the summer. Read Full Review
In all, though, Chronos Commandos #1 is an enjoyable, if somewhat hollow, romp through time. Read Full Review
