The Fandom Post - Josh Begley Jun 5, 2015

"Preapocalyptic" is another homerun from Van Lente, Portela, Dalhouse, and Sharpe. There are few comics on the shelf right now that can match Ivar in terms of bravado, character, action, and sheer sense of fun. Read Full Review

Bloody Disgusting - Brady Steele May 28, 2015

Ivar is a compelling character worth following. He seems to be doing things for noble reasons. He appears to have good intentions to saving all of creation. The fun part is seeing how manipulative he is going about it. Doing something good but going about it deviously is a great hook for any story. Add to it the layering of different eras, straight face lying to hero siblings and bribery with burgers and you have a tale that warrants your undivided attention. Read Full Review

Ivar, Timewalker #5 is a promising start to a new story arc, but it doesn't appear to be that accessible to those who haven't read the first four issue. Despite it not being the best jumping on point, it does serve as a well written, succinct issue that should make any reader excited for the new direction. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Kate Coenen May 30, 2015

Ivar, Timewalker continues to tell an engaging story with ingenious hooks and vibrant characters. Neela's journey is compelling, especially with her future self driving her to pursue her mission despite the possible consequences. Ivar, meanwhile, shows heroism and nobility despite his manipulative nature as he puts together a team to rescue Neela. Ivar and Neela are heroes worth cheering for, and I can't wait to see where they go next. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Johnny Hughes May 25, 2015

There are times, when reading the book, you are actually rooting for Ivar to fail and for Neela to prove him wrong. This investment is key for the book's success. If everyone just agreed with Ivar or he did the right thing (as we see it) all the time we would get bored. Here, his machinations, which we aren't sure are for the right reasons, keep us in as much flux as Neela. Unfortunately,we don't have a future self to tell us how it all turns out, for which I for one am glad. Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Alex Mansfield May 27, 2015

How does time travel work? Who cares really when those tripping the Mbius strip fantastic are as wonderfully depicted as the cast of Ivar, Timewalker. A loaded issue that subtlety slips in exposition below the radar in favor of highlighting the motivations and conundrums of those experiencing them, #5 is another strong entry into arguably Valiant's most consistently surprisingbook. A bit of step back from the last issue in terms of becoming fully engrossed with a single character, sure, but with the pieces Van Lente, Portela and Dalhouse have put on the board with this issue, the potential for charm, chaos and Lurker lulz is exponentially high. Ivar, Timewalker #5 may still be a little off the amazing work we got from the opening two issues, but it certainly a step in the right direction. Building upon Neela's recent revelations, and seeing Ivar manipulate his brothers, Armstrong and the Eternal Warrior, the events in this issue more than intrigue, having me excited for #6.
