Forgive me if I gushed a little too much in this review. By now readers should know that I don't like something unless there's a reason (hence, the fact that IDW and fans hate me for my reviews of that terrible Ghostbusters comic). The truth is, X-O deserves praise. Read my reviews of previous issues to see how I specifically point out areas of merit that make the book literary. Hell, just the action alone makes the book great. When there's intelligent writing mixed in, the book's a success. Read Full Review

Rhymes With Geek - Wesley Messer May 21, 2014

If you're going to start reading X-O Manowar, #25 would be the way to begin. You get a great look into X-O Manowar in and out of the armor and even learn about Armor Hunters in the process. Venditti managed to create a compelling story and introduce the next big event all at the same time. Dare I forget, the backups are amazing, I loved Andy Runton's Owly story, and Justin Jordan and Rafer Roberts one page comic was a hoot; you will all have a blast with these. Happy Anniversary X-O Manowar, I'm excited to read Armor Hunters and to new readers, you're in for a treat. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Jideobi Odunze May 21, 2014

X-O Manowar #25 is the celebration of X-O Manowar's 25th issue that the series deserves. With so many writers and artists having a hand from this we come to understand Aric from many perspectives while also understanding what's to come in Armor Hunters as the hunters continue their purge of the X-O Manowar armors from existence. Herotaku - Steven Lawrence May 18, 2014

Robert Venditti should be sitting somewhere, alone if need be patting himself on the back. It takes time, patience, originality, imagination and a splash of crazy to create and carry an incredible character like X-O Manowar for this long, especially in such an incredibly competitive industry. X-O Manowar #25 was fun, informative and prepared you for what was to come. Absolute electrifying art allowed the reader to jump into Venditti's world and be apart of his creation. New or old to the series you'll appreciate the work that was put into this issue and you'll be yearning for more. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza May 26, 2014

While slightly more verbose than a Prince Valiant strip, the J. G. Jones' one-pager is a nice way to kick off a tribute to X-O Manowar while the cover gallery caps off what has led to this point. This is how anniversary issues should be done: recognize the history, celebrate that veteran readership and experienced creators, bring newer readers up to speed and seed the future. "X-O Manowar" #25 executes this brilliantly, giving readers a magnificently robust comic book filled with twenty-seven pages of new story in addition to the pin-ups, data file information and pitch documentation. As the first of the Valiant Entertainment books to cross the quarter-century landmark, "X-O Manowar" #25 sets the bar high for the rest of the line. Read Full Review

Bonus pages offer up pinups and character/armor profiles. Whether or not youve been privy to this series current run, now might be an ideal time to jump on again and take this story for a spin. Its amazing how familiar yet novel it feels amid the regular stuff the big two (or three) seem to be churning out on the reg. Read Full Review

Comic Spectrum - Adam Alamo May 23, 2014

Overall, the "Anniversary Spectacular" promised for X-O Manowar #25 is a hodgepodge of stories and bonus material that examines the various facets of X-O Manowar. There is a little bit of everything to please fans, whether it be an Armor Hunters lead-in, beautiful artwork, a set of humorous stories, or some bonus reading material that gives insight into the story creation. The re-launch of Valiant comics in 2012 with X-O Manowar is what reignited my passion of comics. As an old school Valiant fan, I remember the quality storytelling that Valiant brought to the table. This new incarnation continues that tradition. Though I enjoyed most of what was presented in this issue, I wish that it had more of the substance I have grown accustomed to and less of the fluff. AIPT - David Brooke May 21, 2014

Because there's so little prelude story and so much filler it's hard to recommend this book. In large part it feels like a book to fill a month so they can have more time fleshing out and finishing the big story that's coming. Overall it's skippable because it adds nothing to the story.
