Roguish twins Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia investigate a curse afflicting the impoverished citizens of the port city of Stilben. Things are not what they seem for the adventurous siblings...between fighting shark-riding fish men and black-clad assassins, they meet an antlered half-elven druid with her own theory about the curse.

Vox Machina Origins II is one of the best comics adaptations I've read in a while. It oozes fun and personality, and serves as an excellent starting point for fans interested in what Critical Role has to offer. It's also a great fantasy series that can be enjoyed by anyone who loves traditional adventures in high fantasy. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Adrian Jul 9, 2019

If you are a fan of Critical Role and the adventures of Vox Machina, I cannot recommend the seriesenough. For those who have not yet to enter the world of Critical Role, I can see the Critical Role: Vox Machina Originsseries being a great starting point before jumping into the first campaign. The issues are short but jam-packed with everything you will need to know to grow with these characters before they hit the stream. The group is not yet complete, so there is still time for first introductions and character moments for fans old and new while they continue their mission to save Grog. Read Full Review

Whether you're a Critter from day one or a fantasy fan on the lookout for a new comic book to read, Vox Machina Origins II #1 is worth checking out. Though some familiarity with the characters of Vox Machina is helpful " Houser drops us right into the action, and goes light on the introduction " it's not vital to get a sense of the characters or the story in this debut issue, nor is it necessary to have read the first Vox Machina Origins series. Vox Machina Origins II stands as a strong story in its own right, an engagingly spooky mystery set in a gorgeously illustrated fantasy realm. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - David Howard Jul 16, 2019

This is a very good book and a series I intend to follow going forward. The story is engaging and makes me want to know more both as a comic fan and an avid fan of the DnD genre. What really sets this book apart is the excellent pacing and layout in the script and the artwork that accompanies it. All in all this is a book I will be proud to own and one I recommend highly to all of you. Read Full Review

    The Fandom Post - Kate O'neil Jul 10, 2019

In Summary Vox Machina returns for a tale which shall bring the group together to save one of their own. If you are new to Critical Role Campaign 1 then you should start with the first mini-series. Existing fans waiting for the debut of the other two main members of Vox Machina can jump in right here. Thisvolume is delightful and I'm confident that Houser has the chops to do this part of Vox Machina's story justice. Of course, the problem with floppies is that the story barely gets going before we have to wait for the next issue. And I do want to get to the next issue, because I really want to see this adventure play out. Read Full Review
