As for the book itself, I've never read a romance comic before. But this was a phenomenal debut. Art and writing is on point and what I would expect from a romance comic. Except this isn't your typical romance comic. This is what Tom King has to say about what Love Everlasting is:

"This comic is an examination of the perversity of this obsession [with finding the happy, nice, right utopia to which we all might conform], of the damage done, the hearts broken, the lives lost in pursuit of the beautifully impossible: of love everlasting. This is not just a mystery to be solved; it is an ongoing adventure, an exploration of the need for love. As Watchmen did for superheroes and Sandman did for horror, Love Everlasting will use the tropes of romance to explore the heart of humanity." In other words, it's a deconstruction of romance comics.

I wasn't on board with the whole Substack comic initiative, but this book is the exception. I'm gonna be looking forward to this book as it comes out. I give this a 9.5 because this deserves to be in print. Hopefully, King and Charretier partner up with a publisher for trades of this book. more
