He is a warlord, a genius, and a squishy pink brain. He is General Krang. One of the most signature villains in TMNT history, Krang has an arsenal and wit unlike any other villain. This issue starts a story arc that reveals Krang's master plan and sees the TMNT come into direct confrontation with one of their mightiest enemies!
This is the first issue for artist Bates who is just as awesome as Kuhn. As always the colors by Pattison are rich and sweet to look at. The classic TMNT feel keeps me reading this and the new story makes me want more every month. This book entertains the hell out of me and I recommend it to anyone looking for something great! Those who turned their backs on this title because of the art should definitely reconsider their choice. The new art warrants giving IDW's reboot another shot. It's sporting a smoother presentation and there are far fewer awkward faces.Art aside, this new take on the classic franchise proves month after month that it's a blast and likely something any fan of the franchise (be it new or old) will love. It's worth noting that this can also function as a jumping on point. Though if you do, I still highly recommend eventually checking out the previous stories as they're release in TPBs. Although the version of the Neutrinos we see her are far more comfortable with violence than the original characters created for the cartoon, the comic does a good job at dealing with the fallout of the previous issue while spending the proper amount of time introducing the group, without giving too much away too soon, and staring a new arc featuring the Turtles traveling to Dimension X. Sometimes, reinventing the wheel isn't all it's cracked up to be. In the case of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there is already a rich cast of characters to play with, so why waste time trying to put a new spin when you can dig into what we all love and enjoy? Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz spin a lot of plates here, and they deliver a solid reintroduction to the Fearsome Foursome. With Ben Bates giving this series a strong visual foundation, now is definitely the time to give the Turtles a shot. Read Full Review
I new arc with a new artist. Bates is crisp with consistently good quality on every page. I love the way he makes the Turtles look. You can already tell he is going to handle this arc like it was made for him. The new victims of Krang look like something out of the Trolls franchise and it fits the Turtle universe perfectly. Entertaining the whole way through this is a great start to Krangs Arc.
