Cat Curio teams up with the self-styled King of Spies to track down his son's murderer: the elusive and brutal slasher known as the Catalog Killer. But as their hunt continues, Cat begins to suspect that the King is concealing mysteries of his own - mysteries that can only be solved by Cat Curio, Intrepid Girl Detective!

Bestselling dark fantasy author JAMES LOWDER (Prince of Lies, The Corpse) joins special guest artist MATT MERHOFF (HACK/SLASH VS. CHUCKY) to tell this tale of murder and mail-order madness featuring one of the series' most popular supporting characters.

It's mail-order madness as a man driven by the loss of his son uses a series of intrigues to find Cassie Hack through those closest to her, in an excellent fill-in issue. Writer James Lowder puts together a complex plot that uses creator Tim Seeley's cast well and lovingly pays tribute to the crazy catalogs you might find in an old comic book. Read Full Review

The book was tough to read at times because a lot of the dialogue seemed forced and cluttered for my taste. The story and the premise, I dug. This series is much more superior to the other slasher comics that are out there in the market today. Whereas publishers like Avatar, which produces some of the finest horror books out there today, treat their horror material with gusto. Hack Slash has humor in this book, that sometimes hits and sometimes misses with its delivery, but nonetheless still fun to read. Read Full Review

    Comic Vine - Tony 'G-Man' Guerrero Oct 3, 2012

This isn't your typical HACK/SLASH comic. In a slight departure, we get an entertaining story focusing on Cat Curio and her desire to dive into the world of detective work. Seeing her operate and how she gets by was a refreshing change of pace. As a newer reader, I was able to figure out what her deal was after visiting her wiki page here on Comic Vine. My biggest problem with the issue and series is the way Cassie Hack dresses. Hunting deadly killers while wearing a bikini top and short skirt doesn't seem too practical. It might be her trademark look but gives me the impression that there's only two reasons to read the comic. The character of Cat is a good mix in the story with Cassie and Vlad. The Catalog Killer had a good design and the story has a nice conclusion. I'd like to see more stories like this but someone should get Cassie a jacket before she catches a cold. Read Full Review
