Nov 14, 2014

This issue is an incredibly solid first issue, and has easily hopped into my most anticipated Marvel title. I can't wait to see what Remender has in store for Sam Wilson, and as long as Immonen and Von Grawbadger are producing greatness on the art, this book is a no brainer for me.

B.P.R.D.: Hell On Earth #126

Dec 19, 2014

I can definitely see how this book seems pretty sparse, and this review appears to be coming in with faith for the future rather than just this issue stand-alone. That being said, it wouldn't be fair to the creators of this book to pass over a faster chapter because it's fast. In that sense, the chapter still contains the craft and skill they have. This issue was a lot of fun and has added yet another book to my pull list. The only trait this could improve from is personal, that being slightly more knowledge in the BPRD universe. However, all this issue made me do was want to go back and catch up.

Valiant continues its role of quality, and with it adds more reason to check out their publishing line in the future. As Im starting to loose a little traction with other companies, I am more than happy to pick up these books. Venditti and Henry tell another solid story here, and while background info on the character is somewhat of a need here, it was still a great story.

Constantine: The Hellblazer #1

Jun 10, 2015

Im not 100% how Doyle and Tynion are breaking up the writing duties; if maybe one is scripting and the other plotting, or if each are doing both. What I do know is that they are certainly verbose, sometimes to a slight fault. Even though this first issue isnt perfect, its certainly worth a read or borrow. As a diehard Hellblazer fan, it may not be what I loved from the original series, but I still found myself enjoying it, for the art alone. I do wish this could just be a new character and we can leave John Constantine with the Vertigo stories we all loved so much.

The story here was first an origin tale for Magog and a battle between the three which I previously mentioned. The biggest plus of the issue for me is Tomasis character moments in these two scenes. Firstly, Tomasi makes Magog a much more viable and well fleshed out flawed man than I thought he was pre New 52, in that he harbors some anger toward Superman and Wonder Woman for not saving everyone during the War against Darkseid. Even though the rest of the issue is a big fight (more or less) with the last page showing whos controlling Magogs rage, Tomasi inserts great moments between Superman and Wonder Woman. What I love about these is that basically Superman wants to help Diana in fighting Magog, even though Magog is powered by magic, one of the only things that Superman is damaged by. Diana more or less says, "stop being a macho idiot, I am the God of War, let me do what I do best and kick this guys ass." I love seeing a strong Wonder Woman coming out on top against the st
