Maybe more than any single issue since the start of the series, this captures the spirit of a high-action animated series for kids that seems to be Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa's bar for success with the series. Read Full Review

The issue continues the blend of the adult and the kid. You can enjoy this adventure as giant robots and kids versus aliens but then there's also this layer of militarization and sending children to war. We also get an emotional rollercoaster of an issue with ups and downs throughout. At one moment you want to celebrate victory and another it's tragedy. The creative team toy with our emotions with perfect pacing and punches. This is a series I look forward to each month and Pak and Miyazawa keep delivering excellence with every issue. I guess maybe I am just getting a little bored with the story in Mech Cadet Yu #9. Some interesting things do happen and by the end of the issue it puts the characters in a differentstruggle, but I do not see how they are going to spread it out into three more issues. The art continues to be great and as always Mech Cadet Yu looks fantastic from a visual standpoint. The art team makes each issue look fabulous. The story has just stuttered these past few issues and it is getting harder for me to really care about what is going on. Read Full Review

Bleeding Cool - Joshua Davison Jun 17, 2018

Mech Cadet Yu #9 is an underwhelming issue considering the build-up. The battle is very brief, and its slowed up by the comic trying to make sure it establishes the foreshadowing plot threads before moving further. Its not bad, but its far from one of the better issues of the series. I can recommend it, but its not required reading for the week. Read Full Review
