Capeless Crusader - Cody Mudge Dec 3, 2014

Make no mistake, The Woods is better than ever, and it has managed to balance the strong character-building flashbacks alongside the mystery/fantasy adventure of the present timeline. I don't know how much longer Tynion and Dialynas can sustain this level of quality without completely committing to telling the story they've constructed in the forest, but so far I've yet to tire of the brilliant high school drama they're using as an aside. Visually this book can hold its own against a very strong line-up of fantasy titles emerging onto the scene and has found a way to stick out and be unique. Without giving anything away, I can assure readers of this series who've been here from the beginning that you find this issue to be particularly emotional, something The Woods has always done well. Right in the feels! Read Full Review

Geek Sushi - Peter Rodriguez Dec 4, 2014

Flip through the book and you'll see these kids running around this strange world, with plenty of action, mystery, and monsters thrown in. But at its core, The Woods is more than that, actually a lot more that I imagined it would be. It's about relationships, feeling different, not fitting in, and how this group of adolescents must work through these emotions to survive. It's a dark and personal tale that only Tynion himself could tell, and it's one of the smartest, deeply imaginative comic books to come out this year. Read Full Review

Infinite Comix - Tricia Ellis Dec 7, 2014

This issue packs in a lot – several characters are fleshed out and mysteries are, if not explained, at least expanded upon, with a few left-field surprises thrown in as well. There are so many factors in play already that the story will likely take years to tease out, and that's a very good thing. Every month this comicgetsstronger, and comic fans who like a little genuine human drama mixed in with their horror adventure stories are doing themselves a disservice if they don't get in on this one early. Weekly Comic Book Review - Noah Sharma Dec 9, 2014

It's been fascinating to get to know each of the characters before they were thrown into the unknown, but combining that formula with the big, present day events we've all been waiting for yields a great issue. Michael Dialynas' art, while somewhat uneven, looks fantastic and the story and characterization shoot straight for the heart without insisting on sappiness. Adrian remains a bit too cerebral, as does the series as a whole, but Tynion and Dialynas bring a consistent dose of quality to the shelves every month, with this one being one of the best.
