Deathstroke and Respawn are on the run! Deathstroke Inc. has been destroyed, and his villain associates killed by the Demon's Shadow! Deathstroke must explain to Batman why he killed Ra's al Ghul...but first he must survive the hundreds of deadly killers coming for him!
Creatively perfect, simply put this arc is incredible and has the potential to rock the DC world to it's core. The writing is heart racing and the illustrations hypnotic. Read Full Review
Paolo Pantalenas artwork has an intensity to it that aids this storyline. Pantalenas style is reminiscent of 90s artists that had an edgier perspective with sharper lines and dynamic poses. Romulo Fajardo Jrs colors are clean with clear distinction and strong blending. Read Full Review
The first of two chapters of Shadow War out this week, this installment mostly follows the bad guysalthough that's really almost everyone in this series. Read Full Review
I like more cerebral thought provoking stories. This is a mystery through and through, and after the first three issues there really aren't many answers. That will change in the next chapter. Read Full Review
Deathstroke Inc. #8 continues the Shadow War event but only pushes the story forward slightly. Joshua Williamson seems to be stalling, and I'm getting frustrated. However, I am still on board because the big picture story is intriguing, I just need more from each issue than we've gotten in the past two installments. Read Full Review
Deathstroke #8 is a disappointing chapter that doesn't progress the story while recycling story bits that we have all seen before. Read Full Review
Deathstroke Inc. #8 was neither good nor bad, but it was absolutely just a crossover issue, both for the series and the “Shadow War” arc. I can't believe I'm writing it, but I miss the storyline about Slade Wilson kind of going off the deep end and creating his own villainous cooperative. Hopefully,we'll be back to our regularly scheduled Deathstroke shenanigans in the next issue. Read Full Review
Part three of the current Batman related crossover plays out in 'Deathstroke Inc.' #11. But, it doesn't really add anything to the story, or to the series so far. If anything, it's another step in the wrong direction for a comic book series that, originally, seemed to be a highly original series. Now, it's beginning to feel like another mediocre mainstream comic book title. Read Full Review
Characters posturing in outfits that make them appear to be overdosing on steroids and quick flurries of action that often lose track of key individuals leave this issue seeming like it's pulled from a past decade. It's the small moments that matter most in Deathstroke Inc. #8, while events proceed in the background. Read Full Review
In the end, the third chapter of Shadow War in Deathstroke Inc. #8 was a big miss. A few things happened that pushed the narrative forward but more than anything this issue just pointed out how dull of leads Deathstroke and Respawn are. Luckily the ending to this issue does tease a big improvement for chapter four of Shadow War. Read Full Review
The cover is great, with highlighting Deathstroke and Respawn's relationship being the best thing to do for this issue. 2/2 The art is pretty good with Angel Break, Ravager, Damian, Respawn, and Deathstroke being highlights and Batman looking really weird. 1.5/2 The dialogue between Deathstroke and Respawn is really good but everything else is pretty run-of-the-mill. 1.5/2 The story of Deathstroke training Respawn is really good and others hold their weight for what they need to do. 2/2 The characters are really good, with Deathstroke, Ravager, and Angel Breaker being exceptionally good. 2/2
I guess you could say the strongest aspect of today's issue is Slade and Respawn's father and son time together. Slade is trying here, this is somewhat inconsistent with his previous comic series but I guess you could say since time has passed the character has evolved and learned with his past mistakes. Cute definitely is the word that describes this the best. However, not a fan of Batman and Talia part here since it kinda downplays what happened previously. Some dialogue at the beginning and how the character Raptor is used did bother me too but this is not the end of the world. What can I say, this issue works, not amazing but it gets the job done. Also, always nice to see a callback to Deathstroke rivalry with the Titans.
Really loked this issue. Allows more down tome with Respawn and deathstroke
The art doesn’t quite match the tone of the story being told.
As I don't follow this series regularly, a lot of it is alien to me. I doubt Ra's is really even dead. He may have even masterminded this whole thing. As I read this issue I ask what Batman even sees in Talia anymore. She's so unpleasant anymore. We'd be better off if she was killed.
I can see Respawn is still new, but is obviously determined to impress Slade, who he sees as someone he wants to be. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I actually like him better than Damian (Though it's no secret I've always hated him anyway).
I can't say this crossover will keep me in this series, because I know it won't. So I hope it doesn't leave a lot of lose ends untied when it's over, as modern comics stories tend to do.
Similar to the rest of Shadow War, this is a mostly solid issue. The problem with this issue in particular is the art. It is just ugly to me, and I feel like it's a major tonal shift from the more consistent styles featured in the Alpha issue and Batman and Robin. I don't like how it looks. Deathstroke Inc. continues to be the ugly duckling of the bunch, even when it's literally telling the same story.
This one just didn't click with me like the other chapters of this story, not much actually happened here
Deathstroke inc 8
Unfortunately this didn't do much for me. While I was very excited for shadow war it hasn't been my type of story. I like stories with a bit more depth. That being said it isn't poorly done and I hope others enjoy more than I have
Comicvine strikes again.
First real miss of the crossover for me. The Deathstoke/Respawn half of the issue was plodding in the worst way and Respawn's characterization feels completely inconsistent with his portrayal in Robin. The art by Pantalena also just did not work for me. Odd line choices while hedging too close to a generic 90's Image house style isn't a great combo.
