Agreed. Glad Tomasi gives us a good story again.
Detective Jim Corrigan has been shot on the streets of Gotham City-and the Spectre must reach out to Batman to help him find the secret assassin!

VerdictIf you've been waiting to see a new story with the Spectre, wait no longer. Mood and tone are the highlights of Detective Comics #1006 and it's possibly the best issue of Tomasi's run so far. The supernatural world of the Spectre invades Batman's Gotham City to great effect! Read Full Review
As first chapters go, this one's a winner. Spooky cults, messy murders, ghosts and goblins, they're all here. Detective Comics #1006 is a Gothic masterpiece, and I cannot wait to see where this story goes. Read Full Review
Batman and The Spectre might be more comfortable in the shadows, but they truly shine here. Read Full Review
Tomasi and Hotz handle the whole thing with pizzazz. It's great and feels like a classic comic book story. I love what Tomasi has accomplished on this book thus far. He's doing great and he and his collaborators have been top notch. This is another fine issue indeed. Read Full Review

Detective Comics #1006 is a strong start to another compelling mystery in Tomasis run. The Spectres appearance is grand, ominous, and foreboding, while the art teams style perfectly captures the dark and gritty murder mystery presented in the issue. Read Full Review
'Detective Comics #1006' is a gritty mystery story that brings us back to the roots of the World's Greatest Detective. It's a dark spectacle with stunning artwork, showing this creative team still has a lot to offer. Read Full Review
Reminiscent of classic Brave and the Bold stories with some clear artistic influences, this issue of Detective Comics manages to remind you of great comics of the past while still feeling fresh and new. This is weird, moody, atmospheric comic storytelling of the best sort, with a tight script and amazing visuals that truly set the mood. Even if it went a different direction than I originally wanted, I love the ride that Tomasi takes us on just the same. Read Full Review
I really loved everything about this issue. The crime scene was eerie, Spectre taking on a gang of Spectre wannabes was great, then Spectre walking through Gotham like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man was intense, Batman's attitude towards the Spectre was perfect, his fight with the burglars was pretty awesome, and the art is PHENOMENAL. Again Tomasi starts off an arc with a home run. I hope he keeps this one going! Read Full Review
If you have been wanting a street-level mystery from the new era of Detective Comics, then #1006 will be a breath of fresh air. Not only that, but it serves as a larger-than-life return for the Spectre, one handled by a creative team who understand how fun and weird his inclusion can be. If you have fallen off of Detective Comics here lately, then #1006 is a great place to pick back up. Read Full Review
This probably wont be a very long arc but I like Tomasi mixing up his take on Batman so effortlessly. Im looking forward to seeing how Batman cracks this new, mysterious case. Read Full Review
It's a grand scale mystery from master scribe Peter J. Tomasi, with art by Kyle Hotz, whose style is somewhere on a scale between Sam Keith and Kelley Jones. There are no crossover events intruding on this issue, and no lengthy backstory leading up to it. Yes, it's the first of at least two parts, but it's classic Batman storytelling, the kind sorely needed in the market these days with DC's flagship character. Read Full Review
With the start of the new arc, we have to reset our expectations and get used to the change of gears.“There Will Be Blood” is a ominous sign to come and there are still so many questions that we need answers to, but it sets the stage for a different type of story than the last few arcs, and that is definitely something worth looking forward to. This really feels like what this title should be " Batman solving weird, short mystery-based stories with guest-stars. Lots of unanswered questions, but a fun start. Read Full Review
This pair up is rather intriguing. The spirit of vengeance and the dark knight. The contrast of methods is certainly going to come up and I can not be more excited if I'm being honest. Read Full Review
DETECTIVE COMICS #1006 is a strong start for this new arc. It takes a darker tone and embraces more gore than in recent issues, but backs it up with a intriguing and engaging story and attractive artwork. I recommend it. Read Full Review
If you want to start reading Detective Comics, this issue is a good jumping on point! It seems like we're actually getting a suspenseful story involving Batman and Spectre to happen in 'Tec, so I'm excited. Great art and writing on this one, too. I recommend it. Read Full Review
Detective Comics #1006 has a throwback feel to a 90s or early 2000s comic book. Batman has a bit more blue in his costume as artist Kyle Hotz seems to be pushing for more of a classic look for the hero that has far too often been stuck in black and grey recently. Worth a look. Read Full Review
All in all, I felt this was an intriguing first issue to an arc. The art and story complemented each other well. I loved the dynamic between Batman and the Spectre. Read Full Review
The narrative is a bit thin, focusing primarily on the reunion of Batman and the Spectre and the horrific crime that brings them together. But it's only the first chapter, so I'm prepared to be patient and keep an open mind. Read Full Review
Another great issue! The artwork was fantastic!!
Really great issue. Kyle Hotz's art is amazing as always.
THE GOOD:
-Man, the art is pretty fantastic.
-I've always liked the Spectre, and he's well-done here.
-This issue moves things along nicely, as opposed the Batman comic I unfortunately read last week.
-This comic definitely has a compelling plot.
-Again, this mystery oriented take on Batman is one of my favorites. I'm really loving what Tomasi is doing with the series.
-This is definitely an improvement over the last arc. I'm already more excited for the next issue than I was for any issue in the Arkham Knight arc.
THE BAD:
-This issue was mostly setup, which isn't a huge problem, it just means I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I'm going to the n more
i . . really . . L O V E D . . this . . issue ! ! !
i am absolutely nuts for this Gothic style of Batman story! it felt like some of the spooky Batman stories from the late 70’s.
the art by Kyle Hotz was really amazing, and added to the tone as well.
Great action and Great art combined with Tomasi’s usual Bad-ass version of Batman in a Noir story, and i could not be happier!!!
i love these short and sweet 2 issue arcs as well. they are usually some of the most fun!
really feels like this story came out of the early bronze age.
The Spectre is a great character when done right, and that’s what we got here!
this story was haunting, eerie and had just the right amount of go more
Wow, Kyle Hotz' art here was amazing. The story was pretty classic Dark Knight detective stuff too.
Very interesting issue.
Tomasi's run on Detective Comics continues and after a rather disappointing end to his Arkham Knight story, we get a promising start to a new arc.
With this issue, we go back to what made me love his first arc on this run so much - the detective stuff.
Throughout the issue, I felt a sense of mystery and I liked how Hotz's art helped establish this feeling. I also liked the interactions between Batman and Spectre, their opposing views helped making this issue more intense and I'm interested to see more of this in the upcoming issues.
Great issue, pick this one up.
Interesting, but at times I found the dialogue annoying.
"The host must die. Long live the host"
After a little disappointing last issue, this one delivers.
Batman meets Spectre, and the juxtaposition of their views on justice is really well done. The writing and the dialogue in this issue are great. Also, something I didn't expect to like as much as I did, the art.
It has this eerie, ghostly, unnerving feeling to it, and well, it fits very well for a story featuring Spectre.
And the action. Wow, it's fluid, easy to follow and just so damn satisfying to watch.
"The host must die ! Long live the host ! "
Good start to the story. Liked the art by Kyle Hotz; it fit the story well.
Pretty decent issue (in a good way).
Fun issue with a great dynamic between the Spirit of Vengeance and the Dark Knight.
The colliding morals of the two characters reminds me a lot of that great Batman TBATB episode "The Chill of the Night", which featured Phantom Stranger and the Spectre himself.
Great issue. The way it’s written& especially the art reminds me a lot of the 90ies, so I like it. While Tomasis‘ Arkham Knight story didn’t make much sense& was kind of lame I’m glad, that the new arc is much better.
I‘m usually not that interested in the Spectre, but his interaction with Batman was quite fun& unlike in King‘s Batman run Tomasis Batman is a Batman you can root for. It’s also nice to see Batman doing some detective works, what should be taken-for- granted, but it’s not these days.
So overall this issue provides good portrayals of the characters, an interesting story& cool art.
Es bueno ver a The Spectre de nuevo. Por el momento inicia un nuevo arco de forma confusa, y aunque es la idea, falla en crear verdadero interés en la historia.
A good first story for the arc...establish the conflict, position the characters.
We'll put aside the fact that one of the most powerful characters in the DCU enlisted the help of the "World's Greatest Detective". The Spectre likely didn't NEED Batman, but you just do some stuff for the story.
Art...OK, not terrific. Serviceable.

Side observation: If Detective really is the red-headed stepbrother, sales-wise, to Batman, I'd take advantage of that if I was Tomasi and (powers that be willing) swing for the fences. Do some insanely great storyline. Arkham Knight was safe. This one looks safe. Let Tom King and the Batman team be forced to handle safe on the flagship book. Try something diff more
