The Tower's first six entries flew by, crafting an engrossing story even without Batman's presence. After considerable plot setup in parts 6 and 7, the event returns to its frenetic best this week. Detective Comics' slow unraveling of Arkham Tower hits a climactic point as all the pieces on the chessboard have been moved to their corresponding points to match where they were as this event storyline began weeks ago. Detective Comics #1054 is an average chapter in "Shadows of the Bat." It does its job to get the reader from point A to point B, but not much else. It's necessary to do this, but there's nothing special about this one. That doesn't mean to say you should skip this issue, rather just take it for what it is. I found "House of Gotham" to be the stronger of the two stories in this issue with its use of continuity creating a certain feeling of connectivity with the bigger picture of Batman's past. Tamaki continues to show she knows how to write the Batman Family extremely well.But it would certainly benefit this weekly event to get into fresh post-flashforward content as soon as possible. The main story isn't worth your time or your money. The writing is mediocre at best and the art isn't anything to write home about, either. At least there's a bit of narrative focus now, but I really don't know why they took this long to get to that point (probably so they could milk the sh*t out of this event in an attempt to make more money). The backup story is great, though, and I really want people to be able to enjoy it, but not for this insane price. I recommend skipping all the tower stuff entirely and waiting for DC to hopefully publish a "House of Gotham" trade one day. Read Full Review

...And this is where we came in. Dr. Wear reduced to street pizza, chaos in Arkham tower, and raving lunatics everywhere. Pretty much what everyone expected from Day one. Another brilliant move by Mayor Nakano. Makes one miss the days of Hamilton Hill. He was a dick, but he'd never have done anything this dumb.
As always the backup story was the bigger thing. Last week it was the start of Knightfall, now it's the start of Knioghtquest our starring character is caught up in. Azrael was an even bigger jerk in this part of our story than he was in the original saga. Naturally he felt he did the right thing More a villain than a hero. This poor kid just can't catch a break. I have a feeling his story will end with him confronting Joker dur more

The second backup was good.
The first story went nowhere. We finally are back to where we began. The last story was ok. It didn’t feel as natural as the last books but I am still intrigued to see where it goes.
The only real saving grace for this issue is the backup, which is a lot of fun. The main story continues to spin its wheels and not get very much done in the process. How is this not done yet? I honestly might drop this one too, until this slog of a story is over. I'm a fan of Tamaki's run mostly, but this just isn't fun to read.
Main story is garbage, secondary story saves the book. They really need to get Tamaki as far away from any DC book as possible.
Psycho Pirate is a Crisis-level villain by DC’s own design. In this series, he goes from “worlds will never be the same” to “let me create a diversion for drug dealers.” Stupid. Mad Hatter would’ve fit the plot way better. That’s what an editor would say but DC doesn’t really care anymore.
Tamaki, you’re lucky to be working on ‘Tec. A lot of readers are dropping the other DC books in droves but Batman is the surest bet. Everybody loves Batman, right? Nobody will drop Batman.
C’mon man.
