As the dust settles in the wake of "Flash War," the Flash and his family of speedsters try to pick up the pieces of what's left. But bad blood can run deep. This is the one race the Flash Family can't win!
What's truly amazing is how, despite being crafted as a tribute for older fans who grew up with Wally West as "their Flash", this comic is just as accessible to new readers, despite being the final issue of Flash War. Read Full Review
This run of Flash has been remarkable, and not only for the outrageous action moments, but the truly well-crafted and heartfelt issues that have set this series apart from many others. It is clear that the love for these characters that we feel as fans are matched only by the love felt for them by the creative team. To be capable of setting aside the two major reveals at the end of #50 and turn the attention of the readers inward is the mark of a truly great team. Read Full Review
This issue is an amazing and touching bookend to The Flash War saga. There is a healthy dose of reverence to the history of both Flashes, as well as a look towards both their futures. I am looking forward to seeing where Heroes In Crisis takes Wally. Hopefully he will eventually get his own ongoing series. And Barry's own series is in good hands under the care of Joshua Williamson. Read Full Review
THE FLASH #51 is another fantastic issue of a soon-to-be long-cherished run. Joshua Williamson delivers the best Wally West-centric issue since his return in DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH. Scott Kolins' art looks as beautiful as ever. Wally West fans must not sleep on this issue. Read Full Review
Overall, this wasnt the most exciting issue, but it did neatly wrap up the Flash War story, and it does leave readers with a sense of intrigue, not just for the future of this book, but also the future of Wally and the DC universe as a whole. This arc introduced the Sage and Strength forces, brought back Wallys memories of his family, re-established the link between Iris and her nephew, and managed to alienate the Kid Flash from the Flash Family. Williamson covered a lot of ground, and managed to do it in the most exciting, entertaining way possible. This was one of the most epic, memorable Flash stories of all time, and it will be providing material for the book for years to come, but without this final issue, it would have just been a fun story. This epilogue anchors it emotionally, and really drives home the effects it will have on the Flash Family in the immediate and extending future. Read Full Review
A very good issue that could easily have been in a Wally West series, brought down by what's coming next for the character. Read Full Review
Scott Kollins provides the art this issue and if Williamson didn't already seem to channel Geoff Johns, Kollins' artwork certainly provides that classic Flash feel. The Flash is the DC title that revels in its history on multiple levels and is immensely rewarding for longtime fans. I feel like I rave every other week about how great The Flash is, but it warrants the accolades. This was a slower paced issue to allow for a cool down before the next big arc. Fortunately the strong character work made it just as enjoyable. Read Full Review
This issue was awesome! However, grab your tissues, as it really gets to the heart of who The Flash is within the DC Universe. Specifically who Wally is, but also who Barry is. You can only run for so long, and Wally has finally stopped running. I felt every bit of this issue, and what it could mean for Wally going forward. Hopefully, some things will get figured out in the upcoming Heroes in Crisis book. Pick this up if you want to understand Wally more and see where this next installment of The Flash Family's adventures may lead. Read Full Review
This is a good issue with nice historical data included with nice art, however, it felt like a summary issue, and it didn't advance the characters significantly. The most entertainment value for me is the exploration of Wally West and where he stands coming to grips with the loss of time travel. Barry's guilt for hurting his family is ground well-traveled; however, this felt different because we see it through the eyes of Iris. The future of Kid Flash and his decision to focus his energies on the Teen Titans is an interesting way to advance that character and gives him room to breathe. I highly recommend this story because it is a nice history lesson to new readers and to fans of The Flash. Read Full Review
Serving as both a done-in-one spotlight on Wally West, and as a prequel to the next big event, the epilogue to Flash War in The Flash #51 delivers a great combination of character moments and suspense. Read Full Review
The Flash #51 is a book that handles its emotions well, making you feel for the characters and their struggles in the fallout of these grave events. The Flash Family is damaged, and every member has a good reason to feel hurt. Mix that with good work from Kolins and Guerrero, and you have a book worth recommending. Check it out. Read Full Review
Overall this is a very enjoyable issue and does a great job of not just being an epilogue to Flash War but furthering the story of the DCU as a whole and sending Wally away for the moment on a high note. Read Full Review
The art by Scott Holins falls in line with this story. It is more subdued than the previous issue and allows the reader to become a little more immersed in the story. It's effective in moving the story forward at a slower pace that this personal story needs to move at. Definitely, a good issue that takes its time to deal with the impact of events before barreling into another huge arc. Read Full Review
The Flash #51 is a quiet issue, but it puts a satisfying cap on this arc before moving forward. Read Full Review
The finish of this title is one that leaves a lot of room for thought. Read Full Review
The issue is an interesting wrap-up of a major event in the Flash timeline and leads onto more adventures. It also shoes us how these characters have been changed by the war and what this means for their relationships moving forward. If you have an emotional investment in the characters of The Flash world and DC comic universe I would recommend this comic, however, if you more the all-guns blazing type and want to enjoy an action packed comic look elsewhere. While not action packed, it's incredibly emotional as it ties up the end of the war. While it will be a while till we see a Flash crossover of this magnitude again, I can't wait to see where both our scarlet speedsters will go from here. I highly recommend this issue, especially if you are a fan of Wally West. Read Full Review
Overall there is promise for the future of Flash, but that's not really what this issue is about, and your mileage will vary because of it. Read Full Review
This Flash War epilogue was nothing but a recap of the event followed by a sudden and forced way to push Wally West off to the Sanctuary and the Heroes in Crisis story. I hated it! Read Full Review
A beautiful and heartwarming epilogue. Loved this issue so much. Powerful stuff all around
Great epilogue to the Flash War, especially for those who are the fans of Wally West. The issue clearly ends this chapter and sets up the future stories. And, of course, Scott Kolins' artwork deserves a praise as well, as it really works here.
Now that the war is over the Flash family has to deal with the fallout.
Wally races around the world in hopes that he'll find some clue about the whereabouts of his children.
Iris deals with returning memories while reminiscing about having Wally in her life.
Wallace a.k.a. Kid Flash learn a lot from Damian Wayne and is adapting Robin's attitude toward the father figure in his life.
And what about Barry? Barry is trying to wrap his head around the new developments caused by the war and Hunter Zolomon. All this while also trying to mend fences with Kid Flashes. It goes well with one and really bad with the other.
My only gripe with this issue is the art. I'm just not a fan of Scott Kolins' art.
After a great flash wars arc that I really liked. The art was crazy! I dropped $5 Canadian plus tax on this “epilogue” and was super disappointed. Nothing new happens...barely. There is no villain, there is no answers, just Wally running....and running. And the art was pretty amateurish
When will any Wally West from any timeline develop some chill?
