John Ridley crafts a brilliantly written commentary on extremism in the third installment of this series. Read Full Review

I Am Batman dives deep into the realm of Fear State as it tackles some close-to-home real-world issues and mulls over the nature of fear as Batman's greatest weapon and what happens when that fear is not there. Jace Fox's latest series cements him as a new type of Batman for a different world and is masterfully brought together by a rotating cast of creative stars. Read Full Review

In I Am Batman #2, Ridley's story is still going strong as he continues to establish Jace Fox as the Next Batman. This story is proving to be every bit as good as DC hyped it up to be. Hopefully, both Ridley and this title will enjoy a long and successful run, allowing the writer ample opportunity to fully realize his vision for the Next Batman. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett Oct 13, 2021

I Am Batman #2 continues Jace's journey in the cowl. He's not a polished crime-fighter. The approach is far different and attitude as well. And it's all perfectly caught in the writing and the art. This is a series for those that love the long game and storytelling. Where Jace is here will not be the same character a year from now. And watching John Ridley plot and guide that growth will be a potential masterclass in storytelling. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings Oct 12, 2021

I Am Batman #2 may not be a big part of the Fear State storyline, but it still manages to delve deep into Jace Fox's mindset as Batman. With the issue ending with the promise of a confrontation between Jace and the Moral Authority, the new Dark Knight has his work cut out for him. And hopefully, the next issue will feature stronger ties to Fear State. Read Full Review

I trust Ridley more than just about any other superhero writer to "do the story right" but it's hard to tell if this issue is supposed to make me feel uncomfortable or if it's just my unease over seeing superhero comics botch these types of stories too many times in the past. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea Oct 12, 2021

I Am Batman continues to explore the beginning of Jace Fox's career and how he plans to be a different kind of Batman and in this issue, we see that his approach might just put a target on his back and while I like the rookie moves that Jace is making, the real bits I enjoy are exploring the behind the scenes people who are dealing with the anti-mask campaign and their perspectives on the situation. This book looks great and I dig where we're going I just wish things didn't feel so disconnected at times from the rest of the Bat-Books and that this series had more time to establish what's going on. Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles Oct 12, 2021

I Am Batman is going to need to have some sort of confrontation with Bruce Wayne and Jace Fox unless the plan for DC is to push Wayne on the back burner per the 5G status quo. Like Highlander, there can be only one Batman and having two running around in Gotham isn't that compelling an idea. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke Oct 12, 2021

I Am Batman delivers on the cool action and brutal violence of Jace as Batman, but slows things way down with heavy exposition and slow plot progression. It's not doing quite enough to capture your imagination and mind, but it sure looks good when Batman is on the page. Read Full Review

I was initially going to give this a 5, but upon listing the critiques of this book in order, I'm inclined to dock it another point. The art is a great time, but the art can only go so far " and while I really do love Jace and his backstory, there's only so much goodwill I can give before I want more from Ridley's Bat-saga.
