This is a strong entry into the Batman family. What happens when you have the tech, but you are not in charge? What happens when you are pulled in several different directions to both be a hero and to also preserve your identity from your family"especially when your family has been turned in every direction imaginable by Bruce Wayne. This story is heating up! Read Full Review

This beautifully done issue features bold colors set in modern drawings. The action scenes are explosive and eye-catching. And the attention to detail that permeate the illustrations are emotionally engaging and transportive. Read Full Review

Likewise, Ridley's story as a whole has taken the idea of Batman's succession in an unexpected direction, as he's managed to weave a fascinating story from that. I am keenly interested in seeing how the Batman might evolve with Jace Fox wearing the cowl. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Scott Redmond Nov 15, 2021

'I Am Batman' takes an uncomfortable but realistic look into our current world state of affairs and the dangers that arise from a portion of society seeking someone to help them unleash their worst selves. Overall this series is benefitting from launching out of the current Batman title crossover event, while making sure it retains its own voice and focus along the way. Read Full Review

It's hard to tell how much of this story has been changed from when Jace Fox was supposed to be the main Batman of Gotham, but John Ridley is doing a good job telling a very different kind of Batman story. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea Nov 9, 2021

Jace Fox is still trying to find himself as Gotham's newest Batman and while he will make some mistakes along the way, it's these rookie aspects and the drama that will ensue from them that keeps me interested in this title..... Not to mention that it looks great. I just wish some timeline and character elements fit in better with the rest of the DCU because this book still feels like it's taking place in the future. But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings Nov 9, 2021

Despite lacking a connection to the "Fear State" storyline and a solid art style, I Am Batman #3 manages to deliver a solid action story that touches upon the complicated relationships of the Fox family. I hope that future issues continue building up Ridley's take on the Batman mythos and that a solid artistic team is found in the process. Read Full Review

As long as you're up on the Batman line, I Am Batman is a strong issue, but don't expect to understand the full context of the comic if you haven't been knee-deep in the line for months. Read Full Review

Better than last issue, nowhere near as good as it could be. What issue #4 needs to do is to provide us with a strong, visually exciting hook: because if this book doesn't justify its existence soon, it might stop treading water and start sinking under its own weight. Read Full Review

This book has exceeded my expectations. Its way better than it has any right to be.

This is an action packed issue that feels like its out of an action flick. A wanted criminal, a disease franchised youth and a militia out to free him from a juvie precinct... and Batman caught in the middle with both sides aiming targets down his back. Just plain comic goodness.

This one eschews a lot of the politics for good old fashioned gritty Street fighting but that doesn't make it less good. It seems Ridley is hitting his stride with this am I'm excited to see where it goes.

The art still impresses here, the story is still fine enough to pass time, it’s just an above-average book. There sadly really just isn’t anything else running for it.

I absolutely love the cover for this issue, but what we got inside was a big of a disappointment. This series was continuously picking up steam for me, but it really came crashing down here. This isn't even a bad issue, but it's not great, especially compared to the rest of the series thus far. It doesn't help that I'm not a big fan of art randomly changing in the middle of an issue. Segovia's art is noticeably better than Duce's here, in my opinion, although neither give us bad art. The writing is my main gripe with this issue. On paper, this should be a good issue. However, as Psycamorean stated in his review, there isn't much reason for me to care about what's happening here. With everything here in mind, I really hope this is just a bum more

Not the best. I feel like there's too much going on, but none of it matters.

"The cute, white killer and his privileged black lawyer..."

Making it difficult from the very first pages, huh?

But that was some decent bat-action, I'm not going to lie. Way better than what Tynion was serving.

The art could've been more consistent, though.

Segovia is great on art and Fear State gets in the way of Ridley's stupid usual messages but it's still a pretty dull story overall.

What a boring issue, medium art, John Ridley is a academy award winning writer, he should be writing a book at least great. I was going to read it until issue 4, but after this one, I'm out
