I'm a long-time fan of both franchises here, so naturally, that's gotten me enamored with the concept from the jump. That said, I have discerning tastes, and sometimes a take on Transformers or Terminator doesn't always land with me. I'm happy to say that with the comic here, I'm on board. They tap the energy that made these franchises, both born in the '80s, special for fans. Transformers vs Terminator #1is a compelling introduction to this crossover with developments fans won't expect. Barber and Mariotte convey the world ofTerminatorwell in this new setting and make a fast-paced issue that never slows down, but doesn't feel like it's going too fast either. Milne's art is nicely detailed with his transformers and humans while Cruz's colours enhance Milne's visuals. This book is complex, confusing, and jam-packed with complicated details regarding time travel and artificial intelligence that it just feels like a lot of nonsense, but the art also manages to cram exciting sci-fi action into each panel, resulting in a premiere issue that will sure to delight die-hard fans of either franchise while frustrating more casual readers. Ok, I am interested. Still I feel Sarah's reaction to everything makes kinda no sense.

This starts out promising with a refreshing misdirection within the terminator future, but as soon as the terminator arrives in the past the comic goes downhill. He's rattling off one-liners in a ridiculous manner and Sarah Connor is handling all this surprisingly well. I hope things get back on track as the transformers get back into the picture because I already pre-ordered the whole series in solidarity with my retailer.
