There are significant moments when great collaborations upgrade imaginations reveal all that we hope, Wonder, and dream. You Don't Read Comics - David Harth Jan 6, 2021

Crossover #3 is a wonderful comic. The opening flashback hits the right emotional notes, and Cates keeps things going from there, really fleshing out the characters. He keeps adding more wrinkles to the whole thing- what does Ryans father have planned? How are the Paybacks and Avas benefactor going to play into everything? Shaws pencils are some of the best of his career, making the whole thing that much better. Crossover hit its first Crossover, and its delightful. Read Full Review

Crossover is pure genius and continues to be one of my favourite comics on the shelves right now. Routed in comics history I am loving the plot comparisons to comic book legends like Watchmen, making this a comic book for comic book readers while cleverly keeping the story front and centre to engage new comic book readers aswell. Word Of The Nerd - Brent Jackson Jan 6, 2021

It took me three issues but I am all aboard Crossover now. I wasn't exactly sure what to make of the story after the first two issues, but with Crossover #3 it seems Cates is starting to let the story take off and let it spread its wings. The art is obviously stunning and just a fantastic little visual treat. If you have been on the ropes with this series this issue should sell you as a must-read. I mean, plus, that cover with the Gundam Shadow is perfection. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett Jan 6, 2021

Crossover #3 is a fantastic issue that blends different worlds even more and allows Cate and Shaw return to an earlier property of theirs. That inclusion is fun (seriously, go read The Paybacks) but the further reveal really ups the “oh shit” factor of it all. This is a top-notch series that in its third issue has shifted things a bit taking this comic to an even crazier level of entertainment. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder Jan 6, 2021

Crossover is such a difficult franchise to evaluate, because the overarching structure demands that it both be all encompassing and all able to stand on its own. There is very clearly a deep love for the comic book medium, yet the paradoxical story feels like it should be approachable to all and this is the third time where I feel slightly alienated by some of the choices made. Not sure what about this issue makes people think Cates thinks he's smarter than the rest of us, but that complaint usually comes from dumb people. This was a great issue, I enjoyed it a lot. I don't know Madman that well, but I do know the Paybacks, so there's a bit of give and take there. I do like the twist that the Superman being teased is actually just Madman though. That's a good, funny twist. I do like that Cates keeps the story grounded, though. That's what separates this story from something like Ready Player One, for instance. Cates and company can't rely on references and guest appearances, that would make for a shallow narrative. I'm happy to say that they're not relying on those things.

Lots of fun references to indie series and that reference to watchmen from the beginning and an overall enjoyable storyline so far. Yes it's not Image's Watchmen but still better than most of the stuff out there.

Donny Cates opens with a discussion of the ending of Watchmen and how it was a catalyst for peace and cooperation. He then says when we had our real catalyst (9/11), all we did was "[build] bigger bombs." Damn, that's fine writing.

While I could sit and ponder the opening pages for an hour, I'll try to write the rest. Cates again proves an insightful and easy read. No obtuse Al Ewing. No novellas de Tynion. Just a straightforward book with wry asides and observations.

The book revolves around Ellie and Ava trying to return to the dome to reunite with their respective parents. The subplot of the evil peacher's son merges (literally) on the road. But a Godzilla/Shogun Warrior battle breaks out of the dome, pan more

Oh, I actually did read the four issues of the Paybacks back when Dark Horse published them... Doctor Blaqk is the only character I remember though, lol, sorry. Buzzkill was the Cates comic of that time that I remember being really good. Maybe the protagonist or villain from that will make an appearance down the line.

Another indie character makes an appearance here too. I had dropped this series, but legit crossovers like this might be enough to get me back on board.

It s not bad but not great either. I keep getting hyped by Cates and then i read the issues and they are fine and good on their own but the double edge story telling and the extreme hype are not helping the reading experience for me. I will ride it out until issue 6 and see then but my hopes are heading in the wrong direction. Shaw is great on art.

This was alright, but I really want to like this series more than I do. I appreciate the art and I enjoy the idea of this series. But after three issues I just don't feel compelled to continue. The story just isn't grabbing me anymore.

Cates needs to stop smelling his own farts so much, he really thinks he's smarter than he actually is.
