Rated T+
Absolute Carnage has quickly become a standout Marvel Comics event and not just because it's full of frightening horror. It is an incredible story full of jaw-dropping moments, awesome artwork, and a villain that would scare even the fiercest killers of the horror genre. It also happens to redefine and elevate Venom to levels heretofore unseen. People will be speaking about this character in the same breath as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America by the time this series is through. Read Full Review
The issue concludes with the promise of an epic showdown. #5 can’t come soon enough. Read Full Review
Intense action and amazing power ups make this an exciting and terrifying issue. As a long-time symbiote fan, I highly recommend this series to fans of Venom, Carnage, and the rest. Read Full Review
Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman combine to deliver yet another excellent chapter of the Absolute Carnage event. Absolute Carnage #4 does a fantastic job showing how wickedly evil Cletus Kasady is as his God-complex reaches its next level. Dark Carange's evolution complimented the hero journey Eddie Brock takes as his return to being Venom is well earned. By the time we reach the cliffhanger ending the hype for how Absolute Carnage will end is at its max level. Which is exactly how things should be heading into the final issue of a big event. Absolute Carnage #4 isnt deep. Its not this generations Maus or American Splendor. Instead, its a gloriously over-the-top action comic, with notes of horror. Its dumb action, and thank God for it. Read Full Review
Absolute Carnage #4 has Carnage bringing the party to our heroes and draws everything closer to its final hour. This is an event I can recommend with great praise, and it still has one more issue left! Read Full Review
For an event that seems to have progressed rather quickly, this has been a great ride. The horror and frightening visual splendor is on full display to soak in for anyone enticed by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's epic take on Venom. Read Full Review
Separated from his other half and welding borrowed weapons, it’s in Absolute Carnage #4 that Eddie Brock learns what it means to be a hero - assuming that lesson doesn’t kill him first, that is. Graced with heart, theatricality, and intensely creepy artwork, this issue positions this goopy event for a thunderous ending. And the best part is, it could go either way. It could be a legendary showdown between Carnage and Venom for the fate of the world, or it could be another densely-packed emotional catharsis for Eddie and his sphere of influence. Either way, this issue is proof that the suit doesn’t make the man - that Eddie Brock is a worthy hero no matter what he’s wearing. Read Full Review
Absolute Carnage has been amazing from the start but it keeps getting better with each passing issue. Read Full Review
Absolute Carnage continues to be a rowdy, twisted event that leaves you craving more after each and every page. Read Full Review
In "Absolute Carnage" #4 there is no respite from the terror, no moment of quiet. With so much noise, the spaces for contemplation are few and far between. Read Full Review
The overall craziness and pace of the story is one that struggles to fit into the page count from a writing perspective, even though Stegman his inkers JP Mayer and Jay Leisten, plus colorist Frank Martin pack in plenty of the grotesque. Read Full Review
just amazing in every way! this and the venom book are the top books out there in my opinion Donny cates and ryan stegman = brilliance
Really cool, I wish there was more though!
WOAH MOMMA I NEARLY PASSED OUT FROM READING THIS ONE.
Best event in decades! Cates is one of the best in the business!
I can't wait for the finale but goddangit I love this.
Still loving this.
Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
Prelude:
Absolute Carnage has been an absolute blast so far. But we're near the end now so Cates will have to stick the landing here.
The Good:
It's great seeing Eddie be his own hero rather than rely on Venom.
I also love Eddie's connections to all of the cast but especially with Peter. That scene was great.
This issue really ties together many of the tie-in series'. Miles' is a bit confusing, see below, but I'm happy that it's being done.
Surprise, surprise, Stegman's art is great.
The Bad:
Vulk does get taken down pretty easy.
As predicted, there are some continuity issues with Miles and his own tie-in series and like I said on that review, that blame is goi more
The parts with Eddie are great. I don't like the sections at the back of the book, they are practically slightly modified Arkham Asylum tape rip-offs and make the characters seem very out of character in the pursuit of sounding creepy. It works when it is Zsasz, but idk about Eddie *shrug*
"I can pretend to be a hero for ten minutes."

While it had some issues this book was pretty great. The last few pages were intense and while I dont get why carnage just took off without the codices from the machine it was cool to see eddie do what he did.
It's good. It was saved in the last few pages. Obviously the art is great but the story by Cates is a bit inconsistent. I'll hold full judgement to the end.
I don't often see an event and its subordinate series conflict this much. Some tie-in authors really wanted to have their heroes overcome Carnage's control, but Donny Cates is having none of it. (Miles is Exhibit A but Scream went there, too.)
On the plus side, what happens to Eddie in this issue makes outstanding use of the hint from the Ghost Rider one-shot that codices carry their hosts' superpowers with them.
Seeing Eddie fight with that Captain America shield and Space glove was extremely satisfying. I freaked out because its a mash up in heaven for me and one I thought I would never see. Surprisingly the Venom Hulk wasnt as big of a "smash" as you would hope it would be. Stegman gives him nearly no panel time and the shots he does have arent really that great. Very confusing how Eddie got the Symbiote back after making such a big deal about it being absorbed by Carnage. This story is satisfying but its a damn shame that it wasn't fleshed out a little more carefully. I suppose thats what Tie ins are for but I felt the core book should have a bit more meat on its bones. Regardless of my complaining this was a great issue visually and pretty muchmore
THE GOOD:
-Overall, I find this event pretty good. I can't say I'm in love with it though.
-Okay, the Venom Blast was just incredibly satisfying.
-I liked the action scenes here. They didn't overstay their welcome.
-Eddie's a really likable protagonist. His character is maybe my favorite part of the series.
THE BAD:
-I don't know, I'm usually a fan of Stegman's art, but it just doesn't click with me here. Maybe m expectations were set too high after seeing his art in the first issue.
-Carnage had some great moments last issue, but here he's back to big, invincible bad dude.
-The ending of this one felt kinda rushed, plus the montage or whatever didn more
